... I actually didn't know this. That's pretty interesting. Is Germany allowed one? :v:
Germany is allowed a military yes.
It's not that Japan isn't 'allowed' an offensive army, it's that it would be unconstitutional. However, Japan is a fully sovereign nation and could amend its constitution without needing any foreign power's permission anytime its government decided and agreed to do so. The article of the constitution relating to this is vaguely worded anyway and its been reinterpreted several times. Japan has a 'real' army in all but name and the public opinion and political willpower to use it as such. The declaration of war didn't come until after the attack, it was technically a war crime.
The attack was scheduled 30 minutes after the declaration of war, but due to technical difficulties couldn't be delivered in time. The US already knew of it though.
the second any nk missile hits land pyongyang gets carpet bombed by a dozen different countries
They're prepared for that probably, after all the mass destruction caused by them during the Korean War's hot years by air attacks I wonder if they are actually worried to be honest.
IIRC Japan wasn't allowed a real army because of the attack on Pearl Harbour (Even though there was a declaration of war and it was a fully legal attack).
I don't know anything about that, what I do know about is Article 9 Japan itself specifically made it so they wouldn't have an offensive army
While i think they have perfectly good superweapons, i don't believe that they have ICBM's. I wouldn't put much weight in that.
According to CNN just now, the US is leaning towards it being a two-stage ICBM. http://us.cnn.com/2017/07/04/politics/us-officials-meet-north-korea-missile-launch/index.html
An earlier initial assessment by the US indicated that the North Koreans launched an intermediate-range, single-stage KN-17 missile. But the revised analysis assesses with "high confidence" that Monday's launch was an ICBM, the official said.
"Testing an ICBM represents a new escalation of the threat to the United States, our allies and partners, the region, and the world," Tillerson said. In response to the test, U.S. and South Korean forces conducted joint military exercises aimed at "countering North Korea's destabilizing and unlawful actions on July 4," according to a statement issued by the U.S. Army. Oh boy, now the Norks have an ICBM platform. Can we please get moving with some form of intervention already? It's only going to go further downhill from here.
So should we surround North Korea with active missile defense? It'd make for a fun sport.
