Not news, Ricky has always been like this. Some of the reactions were hilarious.
Pompus hollywood dicks.
I always found him to be incredibly annoying, but that video was absolutely hilarious
Personally, I find Ricky Gervais pretty funny. I never understood why people didn't like him, he's not a bad comedian.
Apparently ricky was going to come out in a hitler costume at the beginning, but was told he wasn't allowed to.

Really? That would have been hilarious.
Too far? Not at all!
Was he funny? I didn't watch the whole thing
Watch the whole thing then :colbert:
Roasted almost every notorious celebrity and movie out there.
He needs to do more of this.

I loved his bit where he did "And the others Tim Allen!"

I never really cared for him until I watched one of his comedy specials a few weeks ago and thought it was one of the funniest things I've ever watched. It was the one where he reads through that Moses and the Ark book and takes the piss out of it.
I've never found him funny but how the hell is any of that offencive.
He was fucking hilarious, the Tim Allen bit was great.
Apparently they complained:
"Ricky will not be invited back to host the show next year, for sure," a member of the HFPA tells me, adding that Gervais' relentlessly mean shtick could have even larger consequences. "For sure any movie he makes he can forget about getting nominated. He humiliated the organization last night and went too far with several celebrities whose representatives have already called to complain."
Like he cares. The money he made with Office and Extras, he can afford to only have enemies in Hollywood.
He found Karl Pilkington, and he is a genius, maybe even greatest comedian of today.
I specially liked the atheist bit. I don't usually like when atheist are too loud, but they were assholes, so might as well be an asshole back.

Around three minutes in, I think he said 'for christ's sake'. Did they deliberately blank that out, because I don't really think that counts as a slur in this day and age.
I don't see the problem. He's the only reason I watched the damn things.

That one was great. I loved it when he showed that book about animal homosexuality.
"Dave...D-Dave..."
"WHAT"
"Dave...I love you....but I can't fucking breath."
I lol'd at the Cher joke.
The third of his and Stephen Merchant's (Wheatley) "trilogy of sitcoms" is being finished at the moment, starring Warwick Davies in the lead role, called Life's Too Short.
I think it's more that we have a love affair with genuine assholes. Look at the success of Carlin and Louis C.K.
Hell, some of Carlin's stand-up consists only of fart and dick jokes from an elementary playground. The minute he turns on the asshole, though, he's a fucking genius.
Also, the Charlie Sheen joke was hilarious.
The difference is, however, Carlin's and Louis' style of comedy are directed more towards people in general rather than a specific person (as in this case). Carlin never mentions a specific person (unless that person is George Bush) in his comedy, but he always instead makes fun about types of people which is much less offensive.

Lol Lee Unkrich to Bieber and that other girl:
Wow were you even born when the first Toy Story came out?
I lol'd haha
And Steve Carrel after Tina Fey said that they are there as writers and not Golden Globe winners
"But don't turn the channel yet! We're still stars!" hahaha
