whats that movie called when they arrest people for future crimes
I support freedom, I don't care if it's a gun or their right to a religion. People shouldn't be infringed upon unless they actually hurt or intend to hurt other people.

He said my stupid ak-47. I'm not replying to anything else because nothing else that was said had any merit.
But governments can't make rules to govern over certain types of people, especially those who buy guns and don't immediately use them to kill others. They have to pass things that affect groups as a whole.
Minority Report

minority report, a movie before its time and an insight into a real working democracy where everyone is safe always

Exactly my point. The law adversely affects non criminals. It treats the average gun owner as a criminal. This is not right.
if only we could minority report in real life

Well, in the movie it failed horribly, because in the end they were punishing innocent people based on assumption of crimes yet to be committed, and in most cases they wouldn't even have committed those crimes. The system was declared a failure and the Precog project dismantled.
Just like what happened to the Assault Weapons ban.

i never watched the whole movie but i knew someone would say something like that
I think we should just cut to the chase and outlaw criminals already, this is getting out of hand.
I think that everyone should get the right to own any kind of weaponry they want. AM-47? Sure. M60? Go ahead. C4? Yeah, sell that shit in every gun store.
I also think that there should be laws that allow me to indulge in my fetish of collecting poisons, explosives and radioactive materials. It's a violation of my rights if I'm not allowed to buy and own those stuff.
Also I have addiction to drugs, IMO, I should be able to buy those where ever I want.
do you know the definition of practical?
it's not "chop down a tree with a minigun".
I don't really know how to respond to this, but let's just say that I was slightly sarcastic. The fact that I said cutting meat with a rifle was a practical application should've made it at least somewhat clear. It was a jab at his argument about knifes and axes - they're not just designed to kill.
I have never seen a gun on anyone but the police and I like it that way, and even though its probably still possible to buy a gun on the black market even here in finland, it still undeniably keeps these shootings to a minimum.
Idk if it's mentioned in the thread, but Bill O'Reilly said it best. If you're going to buy 600k rounds of ammunition the FBI needs to know why.

I think the line should be drawn way before 600k but I get your point.

Well, that's just what THE SHITHEAD bought :V

But how did the ammunition get there? You can't explain that.
On a different note, Bill O'Reilly said something that makes sense.

I think you're looking 6K, not 600K.
Why does any civilian need an assault weapon
This. It completely baffles me.
There is no legitimate reason or need that could warrant a civilian having an Assault Rifle.

idk about 600k, more like 2

"They look cool and people collect guns" is generally the idea.

Here in Italy we have some decent gun control. You need to get a license for what you want to do (target/sports shooting, hunting+sports or concealed carry for self defense, hardest to get).
Sports is the most basic one, fairly easy to get once you have a clean criminal and medical record, and have passed an easy test on weapon handling. With it you can have a limited number of handguns, infinite long weapons (including dem scary assult rifles) and about 1700 rounds of ammunition, unless you get a separate permit for more (it needs a professional justification, like the CCW license). It's also possible to get high-capacity magazines and shit.
Despite this fairly easy access to AK-47s and the whole happy family of scary guns and buckets of ammo, nearly none of them are used in crimes. The few ones that do, however, are bought illegally from black markets.

In the end they are barely different from any other semi-automatic weapon, the difference is mostly cosmetic.

To be fair, that's what people say happens here too, in the USA, its just that this time it happened to be a guy who bought them legally.

What most people think of as an assault rifle is a fully automatic m16 type thing, something who's special abilities (being automatic) are very limited, and may only be used for malicious shit.
No, not really.

Because tight legislation works so well with keeping drugs out of the hands of people that want them, right?
Because tight legislation doesn't work. Look at United Kingdom or Germany . Man they sure have a lot of murders by guns per capita with their tight legislation.
Don't even get me started on NRA and lobbying in Washington D.C.

Yeah, this kind of ignorance and misinformation always pisses me off. I know some guys here with military-config Saigas, various AR-15s, and one with five FN-FALs from various countries. They're some of the nicest people I've ever talked to, not to mention they'd never even dream of harming another human being.
Heck, Romanian AK variants are really popular among hunters here, they work wonders against small-medium game.
In the United Kingdom in 2009 there were 0.07 recorded intentional homicides committed with a firearm per 100,000 inhabitants; for comparison, the figure for the United States was 3.0, about 40 times higher, and for Germany 0.2.
I dunno statistics so you're probably right, a 40 times higher figure for the US must means that tight legislation does not work in the UK and germany.

I'm just going by what I remember O-Reilly saying. I guess I partly remembered it correctly. I really wanted to mention it because he said something sane for once.
