guns ARE made purely to kill people. being able to kill people is a side effect of knives, not the purpose of them. guns are made to kill people, sure you can shoot at bottles but that doesn't stop what the gun was MADE to do
Purely implies that there ONLY PURPOSE IS TO KILL PEOPLE. I'm talking to a wall here...
reptiles are designed to kill other animals so we should never allow them as pets.
wow thats literally the worst argument i've ever seen for anything ever! nice!
How does me having a cool gun cause people to die.
How.
because in order to have your cool toys we have to make assault weapons and the accessories that go along with them more accessible
once again still waiting for someone to explain to me why i'm not allowed to have a tank loaded up with live shells
That is a horrible argument, you can not punish an individual for the potential actions of another. What about sword and knife collectors? Should it be illegal for me to be a hobbyist herpetologist because someone else did not properly handle pet reptiles and innocent children have died?
no because two thirds of murders in the US aren't committed with reptiles
...and it was illegal for people their age to carry firearms, but did it stop them? Nope, not at all.
then how do you suppose we can prevent these kinds of things from happening
i am interested in what kind of ideas you have to offer
so basically enhancing the cool-factor of your gun is worth letting more people die to gun violence?
yeah man it's not like there's national and international competitions based on these shooting sports. its just a bunch of loser rednecks jerking each other off.
also people are going to die no matter what as long as we have horseshit like the war on drugs, shit education systems and gutting welfare. help people and you'll get more returns than you ever would banning guns that you saw a bad guy on tv use once.
Purely implies that there ONLY PURPOSE IS TO KILL PEOPLE. I'm talking to a wall here...
that IS it's only purpose. just because you can do something else with it doesn't change that. i could use a rifle butt to hammer in nails, that doesn't mean it was made with the purpose of hammering in mind
considering how little of an impact reptiles have on the murder rates in the country, no you can keep your lizards
however the day a massive pet reptile kills 12 people in a movie theatre we might need to reconsider what pets are allowed
But where do you draw the line at what number of human lives does it become justified to limit rights? The argument is too subjective.
Purely implies that there ONLY PURPOSE IS TO KILL PEOPLE. I'm talking to a wall here...
ok you can kill animals too
or practice aiming so that you can kill more efficiently in the future

yeah because someone is really gonna massacre a movie theater full of people with a sword or a knife or a fucking reptile. noone here is arguing outright banning guns, we're arguing either banning or regulating incredibly dangerous weapons that make causing massacres like this fucking easy
that IS it's only purpose. just because you can do something else with it doesn't change that. i could use a rifle butt to hammer in nails, that doesn't mean it was made with the purpose of hammering in mind
Intended purpose doesn't mean it's the only purpose.
You're quibbling semantics now

many people are murdered with guns every day
pretending that its something that only happens once in a while is ignorant

Any legitimacy behind any of your post was killed with this one.
I give up with you people.

Or the day reptile-crime pandemics run rampant in large low-income communities
And we have a reptile NRA buying politicians for less strict reptile laws than we already have
On second thought likening reptiles to guns was pretty stupid.
why cant i buy a howitzer and shoot it in my free time
the government has to get in my buisiness and stop me from using my machine because it's "artillery"
just because it was designed to kill dozens of people hundreds of miles away doesnt mean that people who shoot them off in our free time are going to. we're hobbyists, ok!! not criminals!!!
alright ill throw you a bone and add in that yes, target shooting is very fun
guess what, so is driving 100mph on the freeway, but thats dangerous, stupid ,and illegal
then how do you suppose we can prevent these kinds of things from happening

Destroying every single gun in the world.
Otherwise you're shit out of luck, making them completely illegal still wont stop people from getting them.
alright ill throw you a bone and add in that yes, target shooting is very fun

are you trying to imply that target shooting is illegal or should be illegal because if so lol
BAN SPOONS.
Cars.
Trucks.
Trains.
Needles.
Pens.
Knives.
Fists.
Feet.
Steel toe boots.
Baseball bats.
ROCKS.
And everything else that can be used to kill people.
You know, for the SAFETY OF THE REST.
Banning guns will not make a damn difference. Kopimi, you are misinformed and completely out of reality if you think that a gun ban will make any difference.
Criminals do not give a fucking shit about gun bans. It's illegal to murder people - did that stop this lunatic from murdering people? Do you really think with the determination and planning he had that he gave two shits about it? Shooting at people is illegal. He still did it. Throwing smoke bombs in a theater is illegal...he still did it. Fuck, making bombs and shit is illegal and guess what - he still did it! FUNNY. IF ONLY WE HAD LAWS THE PREVENTED JUST ABOUT FUCKING EVERYTHING MAYBE THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED.
Ban driving cars! HE USED A CAR TO DRIVE TO THE THEATER!!!!!11!!1!!1
Ban clothes! He had to wear clothes to run around with. Shoes to protect his feet. Ban that fucking shit. If only he had no shoes maybe he would have reconsidered running barefoot across the parking lot to shoot a theater full of innocent people.
The fact is when someone commits a crime with a gun the crime they commit is far worse than any firearm law they could break.
The only thing a gun ban does is take firearms away from law abiding citizens. The logic of disarming civilians and stripping them of the ability to defend themselves is completely retarded.
alright ill throw you a bone and add in that yes, target shooting is very fun

Target shooting is negligibly dangerous, not stupid (in the sense of potential to harm oneself), and legal
wow dude i didn't know competition shotguns and olympic pistols were made just to kill. thanks for enlightening me
Guns were created initially to kill people more effectively at range than bows and arrows. The original purpose was as weapons, most innovations in the field of firearms technology occurs when governments contract private industry to create better ways to kill people and animals (typically for hunting). The fact that hobbies outside of shooting people to death exist for guns does not mean guns as a conceptual weapon were not created to kill things.
wow dude i didn't know competition shotguns and olympic pistols were made just to kill. thanks for enlightening me
yeah because a single person here is talking about banning or regulating competition shotguns or olympic pistols huh
are you trying to imply that target shooting is illegal or should be illegal because if so lol
im implying that fun activities that also happen to include dangerous weapons shouldn't be legal just because they are fun
alright ill throw you a bone and add in that yes, target shooting is very fun
guess what, so is driving 100mph on the freeway, but thats dangerous, stupid ,and illegal
How is target shooting, legally, comparable to driving 100mph on the freeway, illegally.
It IS however comparable to driving 100+mph on a dragstrip.
once again still waiting for someone to explain to me why i'm not allowed to have a tank loaded up with live shells
If you are properly trained, pass the required tests, and are not hurting anyone else; then I don't mind.
and they had a ban on guns with large capacity mags, not on violent things as a whole
so yeah that makes sense that it declined!
But it doesn't mean that violence declined, when at best the ban had no effect on violent/gun crime.
