Barack Obama vows to pursue gun measures in wake of latest massacre

im not saying target shooting in itself is dangerous
but people who own guns to go target shooting still own guns, and have a chance of misusing their guns at some point
Destroying every single gun in the world.
Otherwise you're shit out of luck, making them completely illegal still wont stop people from getting them.
so what you are saying basically is that these kinds of massacres are inevitable and are unpreventable
how grim
im implying that fun activities that also happen to include dangerous weapons shouldn't be legal just because they are fun
Cars are dangerous, ban Motorsport.
im implying that fun activities that also happen to include dangerous weapons shouldn't be legal just because they are fun
They're legal because they also happen to be safe, as I said.
Though if there are numbers on a rash of shooting range incidents I'd like to see those.
BAN SPOONS.
Cars.
Trucks.
Trains.
Needles.
Pens.
Knives.
Fists.
Feet.
Steel toe boots.
Baseball bats.
ROCKS.
And everything else that can be used to kill people.
You know, for the SAFETY OF THE REST.
Banning guns will not make a damn difference. Kopimi, you are misinformed and completely out of reality if you think that a gun ban will make any difference.
Criminals do not give a fucking shit about gun bans. It's illegal to murder people - did that stop this lunatic from murdering people? Do you really think with the determination and planning he had that he gave two shits about it? Shooting at people is illegal. He still did it. Throwing smoke bombs in a theater is illegal...he still did it. Fuck, making bombs and shit is illegal and guess what - he still did it! FUNNY. IF ONLY WE HAD LAWS THE PREVENTED JUST ABOUT FUCKING EVERYTHING MAYBE THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED.
Ban driving cars! HE USED A CAR TO DRIVE TO THE THEATER!!!!!11!!1!!1
Ban clothes! He had to wear clothes to run around with. Shoes to protect his feet. Ban that fucking shit. If only he had no shoes maybe he would have reconsidered running barefoot across the parking lot to shoot a theater full of innocent people.
The fact is when someone commits a crime with a gun the crime they commit is far worse than any firearm law they could break.
The only thing a gun ban does is take firearms away from law abiding citizens. The logic of disarming civilians and stripping them of the ability to defend themselves is completely retarded.
too bad all of those things have legitimate uses and an assault rifle is a gun that is specifically designed to be really really good at killing people and isn't better at anything else
im not saying target shooting in itself is dangerous
but people who own guns to go target shooting still own guns, and have a chance of misusing their guns at some point
You can strangle people with your hands, the government needs to go to every man, woman, and child's house and cut off their hands immediately because they have the chance of misusing their hands.
But it doesn't mean that violence declined, when at best the ban had no effect on violent/gun crime.
do you understand statistics
what i posted wasn't even a good chart, since correlation isnt causation
but you had been posting tons of graphs just like that and I wanted to show you that there was plenty of correlation to support the other side as well
Cars are dangerous, ban Motorsport.
cars actually have a practical use
so what you are saying basically is that these kinds of massacres are inevitable and are unpreventable
how grim
Unfortunately, yes I'm pretty sure that's the case.
And if they can't find a gun, there are plenty of other ways they could kill a large number of people with relative ease.
If you are properly trained, pass the required tests, and are not hurting anyone else; then I don't mind.
can you please post your full name so everyone can make sure to never let you run for any political office?
Cars are dangerous, ban Motorsport.
fast cars aren't any more or less dangerous to other people than the shitty bomber sitting in your driveway
You can strangle people with your hands, the government needs to go to every man, woman, and child's house and cut off their hands immediately because they have the chance of misusing their hands.
yes you can, but of all the violent crimes committed, guess what gun ownership makes more likely?
death!
if you compare violent crimes committed with bare hands to those committed with guns, you might be shocked to learn that the ones with guns end up worse
"But I also believe that a lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not in the hands of criminals – that they belong on the battlefield of war, not on the streets of our cities," he said.
um, criminals will get them one way or another dumbass
outlawing them means that only criminals will have them and law abiding citizens won't.
too bad all of those things have legitimate uses and an assault rifle is a gun that is specifically designed to be really really good at killing people and isn't better at anything else
You can not own an "assault rifle" in the US unless you meet the following criteria.
Government. Federal. Local. State. - Law Enforcement only. Issued to you.
Military. Issued to you.
Class 3 FFL with proper tax stamp and the firearm having been made PRIOR 1986.
Your argument is invalid and you are spouting out misinformation. Stop.
EDIT:
BAN SWORDS.
AND KNIVES.
Those are designed also to kill people VERY WELL.
BOWS AND ARROWS TOO.
Fucking crossbows.
Muskets.
Ban all that fucking shit!
It all at one point was designed to kill people! They were the "assault rifles" of their day! BAN THAT SHIT!
If you are properly trained, pass the required tests, and are not hurting anyone else; then I don't mind.
These threads are awesome. Dude in the Aurora thread said that everyone should be able to own helicopter gunships, now I can have tanks too.
Can I get a nuke, just so long as I pass tests and prove that I am not insane?

Somebody posted this yet?
um, criminals will get them one way or another dumbass

the guy who shot up the movie theater wasn't a criminal and he gained his weapons legally
"assault weapon" denotes features that make it a more efficient killing machine and nothing more
how does your collapsible stock/pistol grip help you with target shooting
Competition rifles do incorporate a pistol grip shaped grip, and a collapsable stock (depending on folding or adjusting) also means more comfort to the user (refererring to the latter, such as M4 styled stocks) so some features do allegedly allow user-friendliness; Also why do you call firearms a precision "killing machine"? What about people who participate in the Olympics in competition shooting? What about those athletes who are within the IPSC program? They merely use firearms as a sporting tool, much like a baseball player uses a bat or a golfer who uses a club as an implement so I find the term a bit biased, and sets your argument in a aggressive tone for gun control
What's also interesting in the article is last I checked (correct if I'm wrong, my information is 1 week old) the shooter didn't have any form of bad history which puts background checks in question as to whether or not it's a foolproof way to regulate firearms
Guns were created initially to kill people more effectively at range than bows and arrows. The original purpose was as weapons, most innovations in the field of firearms technology occurs when governments contract private industry to create better ways to kill people and animals (typically for hunting). The fact that hobbies outside of shooting people to death exist for guns does not mean guns as a conceptual weapon were not created to kill things.
who gives a fuck about original intention. lots of stuff originally had "bad" origins, but that doesn't mean you're seeing campaigns to ban the gps because it was designed to make it easier to land nukes or dismiss nuclear power because anything nuclear has origins in making nuclear weapons
im not saying target shooting in itself is dangerous
but people who own guns to go target shooting still own guns, and have a chance of misusing their guns at some point
So you would rather operate under the assumption that people can't be trusted to not flip out and kill other people.
yes you can, but of all the violent crimes committed, guess what gun ownership makes more likely?
death!

Let's ban anything that can cause harm to people, it's the only way to be sure!

sounds like someone's mad that their collection of deadly weapons is being labeled as a collection of deadly weapons
who gives a fuck about original intention. lots of stuff originally had "bad" origins, but that doesn't mean you're seeing campaigns to ban the gps because it was designed to make it easier to land nukes or dismiss nuclear power because anything nuclear has origins in making nuclear weapons
those aren't even comparable at all? when you use a gun you're still using a gun that was made to kill stuff. when you're using a gps you aren't using something designed to make it easier to land nukes you're using something designed to help you get around easier
the guy who shot up the movie theater wasn't a criminal and he gained his weapons legally
Didn't know shooting close to 90 people wasn't a criminal act.
So you would rather operate under the assumption that people can't be trusted to not flip out and kill other people.
well uh
they cant???
sounds like someone's mad that their collection of deadly weapons is being labeled as a collection of deadly weapons
Sounds like someone does not know what they are talking about when it comes to firearms and their laws.
Let's ban anything that can cause harm to people, it's the only way to be sure!
no, lets ban stuff that was specifically designed to make it easy to kill shitloads of people. how the fuck can you not understand THAT'S the argument and not the bullshit you keep putting in other peoples mouths?
You can not own an "assault rifle" in the US unless you meet the following criteria.

really because here in arizona you can buy a decked out assault rifle at the gunshow without any paperwork at all, its legal too
Didn't know shooting close to 90 people wasn't a criminal act.
nice work not understanding my statement at all. really making me take your arguments seriously.
really because here in arizona you can buy a decked out assault rifle at the gunshow without any paperwork at all, its legal too
No. You can't.
Look up the definition of assault rifle before continuing. Please.
