• Valve To Release L4D2 Fan Mod As Paid DLC

Yeah, Valve has really gone downhill after Left 4 Dead 1.
I don't want any new campaigns added unless it's actually canon. If I wanted a campaign that doesn't have to do with the main story, I'll just download it from L4DMaps. Valve is treading on very thin ice now. :colbert:
People complaining about content that a game is seriously missing?
People complaining about content that a game is seriously missing?
I have no problem with the other L4D1 campaigns being ported to the second game, but this other campaign that supposedly has nothing to do with the storyline that's being developed by the community is the one I have a problem with.
What is the problem with valve allowing a community member to make some cash. No one is forcing you to buy. It has nothing to do with the l4d story, so you don't miss anything if you don't buy it. Valve is just helping a community member get some recognition, in fact isn't this a good thing?
dont play it if you dont want to retards
Now I've got a question for everyone complaining. Who's making you play it. If you don't like it, don't use it. [editline]17th February 2011[/editline]
dont play it if you dont want to retards
Ninja'd, but you've got the right idea
I'm pretty sure this is the exactl same thing Valve did with TF2, and that turned out to be a F2P MMO. Although these are maps so I can't see how that'll go wrong.
I'm pretty sure this is the exactl same thing Valve did with TF2, and that turned out to be a F2P MMO.
Because there's an extensive economy and a sustained, game-wide world, right? Because people don't pay $20 for the game, right? Quit saying "Free to play" or "Massive Multiplayer Online" when you don't know what it means. On topic, i don't think Valve would make it a pay to play DLC, since they already saw the reactions when the TF2 store was released. Sure, they rake in money, but their reputation is at risk, and i'm fairly certain they know that. As with everything that was added to TF2, the store was an experiment. TF2 is long known as valve's "Testing" game, where they do things they've never done before.
I wonder why they chose such a shitty mapper, did anyone here play 2 Evil Eyes? I did, and it was awful, out of place props, poor lighting, bad transitions, lots of stupid unnecessary stuff like excessive use of crashed planes and trains. Overall it was just stupid. I can't imagine why Valve was in love with his campaign and gave him the green light to include another one of his hellspawn's in an upcoming DLC. I love L4D2, but what the fuck is with this?
where have i heard this before... oh yeah, in the TF2 section.
They never made people pay for maps, the mann co store is optional.
valve can fuck off then im sick of their shit
Yeah Valve stop with the free dlc, also stop paying the community for contributing to the game, you should just give all your money to me.
I'm happy they are going to add the 3 other L4D campaigns. I wonder if people will buy L4D at all after that. As for the community one, I didn't play 2 Evil Eyes myself, but I saw few walkthroughs and the maps looked a bit weird at times so hopefully he puts more effort in this one. I know a lot of people downloaded these already but why not make Dead Before Dawn or I Hate Mountains official instead?
Valve? PAID DLC? Please tell me it's a joke. PLEASE! :gonk:
Think of all the free content they've given us. Who can blame them if they decide to charge for one DLC?
They never made people pay for maps, the mann co store is optional..
content is content.
content is content.
You can't run around shooting zombies on a hat You need a map for that
You can't run around shooting zombies on a hat You need a map for that
no, you need weapons. :downs:
I hate how Valve can turn anything good in the reader's eyes:
For this DLC we start with wanting to experiment by releasing a map pack that wasn’t about story. It would just be new campaigns for Left 4 Dead 2.That makes the first constraint no new audio or story.
aka "We don't have the time to create anything new, so let's put random, non-fitting stuff into the game so it gets attention (like TF2's recent hats and weapons)." Same goes for the Mann Co. store where Gabe said something like "We wanted to experiment with the store ... bla bla bla ... the most sold item was the most expensive item ... bla bla bla ..." in an interview a few days ago. Of course it's just money whoring. If it was an experiment why would you make it that expensive? Another example is how they never mentioned that they couldn't get Jim French, the voice actor of Bill, for The Sacrifice. Again they said something about experimenting by letting Bill die but in reality they simply couldn't get Jim French to add some new lines since he's in prison. What would be a better decision than letting his character die?! I don't mind new Updates/DLCs and featured community stuff but please be the human and honest company you are known for! Otherwise you start to disappoint me.
Valve? PAID DLC? Please tell me it's a joke. PLEASE! :gonk:
yeah thats like as dumb as charging for hats on characters!!
Dear Valve: Please stop releasing new content. I'm tired of hearing people bitch like idiots everytime you do something.
dont play it if you dont want to retards
FREE UPDATE! nO COMPLAINING its FREE
Well I can't play L4D2 anyway, seems to be stuck permanently on 'downloading update' for me. I got 2EvilEyes on my laptop though, and in my opinion it wasn't all that great, the swamp river level looked pretty nice, but generally I thought it could have done with a lot more work.
Dear Valve: Please stop releasing new content. I'm tired of hearing people bitch like idiots everytime you do something.
Dear Valve: Don't stop updating, just don't release crappy half-arsed mutations we can make and make some new fucking maps and weapons yourself. Fuck me I don't know much about modelling but I'm pretty sure it's easy to make a new weapon and animate it, especially if you're a god damn professional.
FREE UPDATE! nO COMPLAINING its FREE
[editline]17th February 2011[/editline] And yeah, 2EvilEyes was fucking awful. Don't know why Valve choose this mapper, and not a team like from I Hate Mountains for any new content instead.
The only problem is that they completely ruined the purpose of owning l4d1.
FREE UPDATE! nO COMPLAINING its FREE
You can say that when it comes to TF2 where they had a good game but then changed it enough for players to complain, but as far as I can tell they're adding campaigns to L4D2, and not changing the old ones. It's really easy to ignore the things you don't like if you're not forced to play them. [editline]17th February 2011[/editline]
The only problem is that they completely ruined the purpose of owning l4d1.
I wonder if it'll have the L4D1 common infected models for the campaigns once they're added to L4D2. That's one of the things that the first has over the second I think.
Counter strike, team fortress, alienswarm, garry's mod. Is basically the same concept. They find an good indie developer and help him out an bit. And most of the time part 2 end up being 100% valve's work. Stop bitching, i love it.
Jesus Christ, people really will complain at anything. It's as if people would prefer no content at all. How can new, free, completely separate campaigns be a bad thing.
Jesus Christ, people really will complain at anything. It's as if people would prefer no content at all. [editline]17th February 2011[/editline] Thus, they know they will force themselves to buy it.
Buying L4D1/2 was a fucking big mistake.
