How does DX9 = featureless?
The game looks fine and isn't that what all graphics libraries are for
I'm still weary of buying this at sixty fucking dollars though
It's 2011, I'm still wondering why it was only launched with DX9
Not saying that lack of DX11 makes it not worth buying but that is an absolutely HORRIBLE argument
No. It's not. Why should they bother adding DX11 so soon if most of the customers DON'T HAVE OVERPRICED COMPUTERS.
Not everyone is either A) Rich or B) Spoiled.

Not everyone is poor like you, it's ok, don't feel bad, I heard the shop round the corner from you has some jobs going.

Or perhaps they spend their money on something more important?
Don't be such a dick.

Why would they launch with DX11? They obviously didn't make it with DX11 features in mind. It'll probably be tacked on like DirectX 10 was in the original, just to make it seem cooler. :\
See my post above for the reason behind region restrictions. It is released online, but they also release to brick and mortar retailers, who get very angry the instant you do something that gives digital download services an edge.
I would too in their shoes. If steam got it 3 days in advance, then it would seriously hurt their sales.
Even if Steam doesn't get it earlier, if it's released earlier somewhere else, TPB will have it too and we honest customers have to wait.

Sounds like you're just jealous because people are better off than you. DX11 support is in almost every new card, many of which are budget cards.
I hope the graphical settings will be fully configurable with a patch.
Holy fuck you guys are whining about this ALOT.
Shut the fuck up, and deal with it. PLEASE!
I think they were put under pressure to release it as a console port, If anyone knows the PC community it's Crytek, they will sort us out with a patch or two.
Does that make it a bad game?
When viewed alone? Probably not.
When viewed compared to its predecessor? Yes.
The 360 has roughly 512 megs of RAM TOTAL to play with. The pool is shared between normal RAM and video RAM. Machines that run Crysis well are probably going to have 512 megs in video RAM alone, much less several gigs of standard RAM on top of that.
RAM is the ultimate killer. RAM is why console ports suck ass, even if they do a half way decent port job. Your computer can handle WAAAAAYYYY more data at once. All sorts of ninja tricks are necessary to stream and buffer data in modern 360 games.
Anyway, I pre-ordered it at the last minute, my friend is going to play it as well so it will be worth it in my eyes.
And I was looking forward to the singleplayer after all.
Looking forward to playing it in 1 hour and a half.
Configurable graphics settings bothered me at first until I realized I could max everything out on my 460 anyways with flawless FPS and have it look bodongolozingly amazing

How can you be so black and white on a trivial matter like graphics fidelity? Regardless of whether it truly looks inferior to the first game, it is still stands out as a more then decent looking game.
Do you choose to buy games based primarily on graphic prowess?

Mostly all games have different configurable graphics settings, just having stupid settings that doesn't allow you to customise it is rather stupid.
Only problem with this is that the MP is pretty broken.
Your CD key doesn't save, there's almost no North American servers, you find one and it says your CD key is in use...
SP was great though.
hey i'll get it when there's a sale
actually I'd rather have a sale of Warhead now that I think about it
I have been playing it, it is a great game. All the people whining or complaining probably haven't played it yet anyways.
EA: "Pricing games $60 is exploitative and it sucks lol!"
Releases Crysis 2 with a $60 tag.

Wrong, EA's Free to play developer said that.
I can't download it because some major cable died and now 1/15th of the city has no net access.
So yea, no Crysis 2 for 3 weeks. :(

But how are you posting if you have no net access?

It isn't graphics, it is level size and how much the game remembers.
If I push a crate over, a PC is going to have the RAM and available space to remember that indefinitely.
The level size itself can be MASSIVE without any sort of issue. Crysis supported huuuge levels that 2 simply can't begin to hope to compete with.
Desktops are also getting substantially better at modeling physics when compared to consoles. My favorite moment in Crysis was when I came to the conclusion that the best way to assault a particular North Korean camp involved driving a jeep straight through a building filled with North Koreans and using the ruined husk of the building as cover while I tossed frag grenades into the other buildings.
You are going to have a hell of a time processing the kind of destruction that I wrought over the course of a few seconds on a console. My desktop was doing that years ago, I can only imagine the mess it could do today.
Physics, unlike graphics, really can add to gameplay and make a game much more interesting.
In short, I don't give two shits about graphics. My favorite game in the history of games is Dwarf Fortress. But the power of the desktop isn't all about graphics. It is about memory, hard drive access times, memory access speeds, ease of physics calcuations, and CPU speed.
No Directx11, no buy.
There's barely any difference between Dirextx11 and Directx10. Especially in Crysis 2.

I see a good point here. When I play Just Cause 2 (PS3) and do a FUCKTON of action, like just going crazy fast in all sorts of matters, it lags. Happens on a few other games too (only like 2 others that I own, but not as badly). It in no matter makes it a game breaker, but it does sorta suprise me. I mean, it may be a factor of the optimization not being the absolute best though.
Funny how people think "Ohh.. it has no DX11?! It must be such a bad game."
I loved the campaign and the multiplayer so far is rather interesting, if only it would have 32 player limit at least with some larger maps in the future.
I tried searching for a bunch of cvars to make my 6 year old computer run it like it ran the other Crysis. It went fine except that over half of the cvars, doesn't work. I get no improved performance.
2 hours left for us Europeans :D

Well fuck my life, the timer got to 0, says it's released but it still says preloaded...
Same here. On the Steam store page is says 'PLAY NOW', and when I click it takes me to the 'Pre-load complete' screen. Gaahhh!
