(CNN) -- A Kentucky man high on marijuana and drunk on whiskey put his 5-week-old son in the oven Sunday and left him there overnight, police said.
The oven door was slightly ajar, and the oven was not turned on.
After smoking marijuana at the restaurant where he works as a cook, Larry Long, 33, returned home to share a fifth of whiskey with the baby's mother, Brandy Hatton, McCracken County Sheriff Jon Hayden said in a statement.
Hatton had four or five shots and went to bed while Long finished the bottle, Hayden said.
At 5:30 the next morning, Hatton awoke to the sound of the baby's cries coming from the oven. He had been in it for several hours, police said.
Emergency crews responding to the scene transported the infant to a local hospital, where he was found to be unharmed.
The incident was reported to authorities by a psychiatric facility that Long turned to when he learned what he had done, officials said.
"He actually called a mental health crisis line immediately thereafter and told them that he had done this. And they contacted us," Hayden said.
Police arrested Long and charged him with first degree wanton endangerment. He is being held on bail of $10,000.
Long blamed his actions on the marijuana, which he believes was laced with a hallucinatory agent, officials said.
Authorities have removed the baby from its mother's care and awarded emergency custody to members of her family.
Source

Well that was a cold night for the baby I guess.

That is not the correct way to get a baby baked. That guy just didn't want to share his pot.

:hehe:
I like the wording. "Leaves baby in the oven." As though the issue was not that the baby was in the oven, but that the baby was in there too long.
Fresh Baby
Place baby in oven
Turn the oven to gas mark 6
Wait for 30 minutes
Turn Baby Over
Cook for Another 30 Minutes
Take it out the oven and Enjoy
:wtc:
No :bandwagon:ing

225 degrees celsius and put it in the middle of the oven, turn the baby around every 20 minutes.
I dont think the baby should be taken away from the mother, how could she have known that the father would do that, I know we are talking about America here but still.

I assume that it's because she in the house at the same time, and was also drinking.
If you have a 5 week old baby, its irresponsible to drink and smoke weed while the baby is in your care.
Oh, and obviously the weed is illegal.
Snip I'm wrong

The father had smoked the weed at the restaurant he worked, the mother just had some whiskey, you can't say the mother should take care of the child all the time, there should have been no harm in going to bed and let the father watch the child, if the father wasnt such a dumbfuck.
Lets just hope he gets the punishment he deserves.

the baby shouldnt be in the oven regardless of how long it was in there.

also he's blaming the weed, when it was most likely the whiskey.

You should not be this hard on him, he knows that what he has done is wrong, and basically turned himself in as soon as he knew what he had done, he could just as easily have kept it quit.
Drinking and smoking is bad mix
I feel bad. Whenever I'd start telling a funny story I'd often open with "So there I was right, foot IN the trash can when I realized that I left my baby in the oven" :ohdear:
Thank god he didn't turn the oven on.
I can't say I'm pissed at him, considering that he did turn himself in the moment he realized what he did.
Good thing the oven, unlike him, wasn't on high
baby cakes.
Goddammit, I'm ashamed of my state.

Unless his weed was laced.
Let this in no way represent the effects of normal weed.
Brandy drinks whiskey
