I like how they're named redshirts, considering Asia's past when it comes to protests, and the probable outcome for this one.
Bamboo, why don't they use something less flammable and easy to chop down.

"PAD" and "UDD" roll off the tongue like a trainwreck.
Actually, considering the fact that the last D stands for Dictatorship...
Get your shit together Thailand.
I don't think they realize that they're ruining themselves there by blocking businesses.
Also i want to go on proper holidays again, sort it out.
Fucking awesome! Fight for freedom you badass motherfuckers!
I hate that the USA won't recognize this as a threat and send a peacekeeping force.
I'm just looking into Vietnam flights now but they're double the price of the ones we've already bought to Thailand. I really cant afford the extra cost, the main reason we were going to Thailand is because it's so cheap.
Do you guys think it'll be like this for the next couple of months? We dont go until the 19th of June.
Fuck.

Why should they intervene in another country's domestic affairs?

Bangkok won't be enjoyable AT ALL. So if you're still coming here, I'd suggest you go to Pattaya or some other tourist beach city. (Ex. Huahin, Cha-am or islands like Samui)
We're flying into Bangkok but the general plan was to only stay there a day or two, buy some supplies then head out to travel around.
Can you give me any insight as to what the other major cities are like? Is all the trouble localised to bangkok? Chiang Mai was one of our biggest destinations but the media doesn't give much insight to the situation there.
I really appreciate the inside info by the way, thanks a lot.
Koh Somet is a great small island for a weeks cheep stay.
have we really gone this far without a star trek reference?

So yeah, for the away team we're going to need Kirk, Spock, Scotty, and some random Thai protester.
God-damn it I made one a while back....WHY DID NO-ONE NOTICE!?
Well, it was a lot subtler than ours.

stop taking sides in a conflict you know nothing about.
What is it with white people and trying to apply their culture on others
Why should they intervene in another country's domestic affairs?
What? They do it all the time. Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Korea... You name it. The US likes to shove its nose in other peoples' business.

Look at them hoard into the city. :holy:
I got red shirts confused with red coats and thought up some pretty rude british jokes :(
I'm sorry British people.
That's pretty slick.
Thank you, Al Jazeera.
I've always been fond of their reporting - it's not like CNN or Fox News, who are always doing commentary, or pushing an agenda.
Just found out that if I do go my travel insurance will be completely void, and considering we're going kayaking, rafting, diving, mountian biking, cliff jumping, skydiving, backpacking, camping etc thats a baaaaaaaaaaad thing if we've got no insurance.
Fucking hell, I dunno what to do.

OH WHO CALLED IT
Yeah that's right I did.
I started looking into cancellations for Thailand and can get about %60-70 of all my money back for flights and shit.
Been looking at a couple of weeks in the caribbean as an alternative. the only thing is I'm poor as fuck, Thailand was all going on debt. It depresses me to know that £2.50 could get me a 3 course meal in Thailand but barely a packet of fucking crisps in Greece.
Stress. I hope to fuck they just decide to chill out over there so I can just go and have the time of my life like I've been planning for the past year without any hassle.
I'm pretty sure it'll be alright. They're only protesting in and around the luxury designer clothes shops which you probably wouldn't be able to afford. If you go there you'll
1. Have the opportunity to see the shit that's happening first hand.
2. I already forgot number two.

£2.50 is enough for one meal for your information. Too bad your travel insurance sucks. It's not that dangerous, the only risk is the airport might close down. But it's highly unlikely, considering the damage PAD did when they took the airport. The protesters have only taken the main tourism spot in Bangkok, which contains a multitude of shopping malls and various shops for leeching off unknowing tourists.
yeah I was exaggerating a little but you get the idea, it's cheap!
Also we've not actually got our travel insurance yet but it's pretty much a standard rule here that if the embassy says "dont go" then they're not liable for any injuries.
You've given me a bit more hope though, I wont write it off quite yet. To be honest I think it'd be pretty interesting to go and see it, I'm just having trouble convincing my friend that I'm going with... and my mum.
What are the other cities like?
:(
