You must be one of the many that went directly from windows xp to windows 8.
So I must ask, have you tried Windows 7? Looking at it being used on you-tube doesn't count.
One more question: Is that guy in your avatar you?
stop being a schmuck
That is splendid; the only reason I upgraded was to play Civilisation 5, otherwise I would have saved the $99.
you upgraded just to play one specific computer game
lol
do you know anything about the potential security risks of using an OS that's over a decade old, yet it still has a fair userbase, making it a target
It is great for tablets/laptops
Well.. That is the only thing I can say about it that is good.
Realize now that the "Windows 8 hate bandwagon" is bigger than the "Windows 8 like bandwagon" when talking about a desktop OS.
literally who cares dude, stop being pendatic
The start is just about functionally the same if you use the keyboard to interact with it, and the fact it's flat instead of a tree should make it easier for people who are new computers to use it.
The problem is that you have to use the touch gestures to open the menus if you're not using the keyboard, which makes turning off the computer a bit of an odd interaction.
Edit: But of course Microsoft want you to use the Metro UI so that you're more comfortable with Windows RT where they can take away your rights to run what you like.
It's actually worse to navigate with the keyboard now, especially for someone that works in IT. Settings are not shown under normal search results any more you have to click on the category.
So I can't say, type in "dev m" hit enter and go to device manager, like in Win7.

I hope this sparks an interest in OpenGL again.

I find Windows key + X, M to be a quick way to get to the device manager.
