I would hate to have to load steam everytime I want to use my editing software. It's better if I can just click on my start menu and launch it from there. If this ever does happen, they need to make it a shop independent from steam all together, I already hate the fact that I need to be logged into steam just to play my games. I won't lie though, it's a great service with all the free updates and stuff.

Not so sure about this. I wouldn't Steam to get endlessly diluted until it becomes amazon or something. I wouldn't mind seing Valve develop more services, but don't merge it all with Steam. I've invested a lot of money into my account.
