There's only one thing I can see myself doing with one of these, and that's mounting it within some sort of rifle body and making a 40K-esque Las-rifle out of it. (and no fucking shit I'd take all the necessary safety precautions)
Though I'm curious... If you were to somehow water-cool the diode, could you potentially send more power through it and get a stronger beam? I've heard of people water-cooling laser diodes before, so I don't see why you couldn't do that with this one.
i want to see a video of it
i want to see a video of it
You'd be blind even watching a video.
$200 for ~1W, that's impressive.
In fact I'm going to buy one
WHAT THE FUCK? ONLY 200$?
I'm fucking buying this!
John Colton should stick to singing.
To hell with gun control!
Laser control!
Next thing we hear of them : Lots of 12-25 year olds owning the "Star wars" lightsabre are now blind. Police is investigating.
Seriously though, if kids will get this shit, they won't use the protection. If they blind someone, they won't be able to do it to anyone else ever again.
I'm gonna order one, ask if the guys at the gun range if I can use it there.
IR radiation cannot cause cancer, it's non-ionizing.
It needs to be atleast UV to be ionizing.
:science:
I just ordered this! :neckbeard:
I've always waited for a some kind of cheap but powerful laser, but i would never expect if from someone that sells 300mW lasers for 2000$.
Holy fuck i cannot wait!
I guess that meme "IMMA FIRIN MAH LAZOR" can finally be used in real life.

I hope it explodes in your face and you go blind.

You too.
I hope it explodes in your face and you go blind.
You too.
wishful thinking
Blinds people instantly and sets skin on fire, eh?
I wonder what would happen if this was put to use in a crowded hall of mirrors...
I hope it explodes in your face and you go blind.
But lasers are awesome, and i don't live in a big fucking city stuffed with people, so i can use it whenever I want! :neckbeard:

Hold it a crotch height, remove yourself from the gene pool when you fuck up.
See goodbye to your vision.
Please point it in your eyes.
I ordered extra safety goggles and will never point this at my own head.
[editline]o[/editline]
I'm not a stupid fucking teenager that walks around shining at cars and people, or even planes.
In fact, I have no real uses for this thing yet but it will not be misused, not in my hands.
Their "lasershades" are not adequate.
Which is why I phurchased 2. :smug:
No, seriously, I'll be fucking careful and look up on the kind of protection I really should use.
It won't arrive in like a month anyways, they send stuff directly from China or something and it usually takes a while. (I've experienced it myself. I earlier ordered another product from them, and i had almost forgotten about it when it arrived.)

uh-oh, US Customs will most likely get a hold of it.
Sorry bro, but those are going to jack shit. Do you have any idea how powerful this thing is? Seriously? This shit isn't a toy.
I bet you're going to be registered as legally blind in the next week or two.
Seriously, I'm not fucking retarded.
I'm just a normal laser enthusiast, and I've dealt with high-powered lasers before.
Stop making such a big deal out of this.
You should pre-order yourself a seeing-eye dog, since you're going to need it when you're doing "having fun" with an industrial strength laser.
haha, seriously get off his dick
I'm kinda baffled that the 300 mW Spyder II pro they got costs 1297 dollars, while the 1 W super laser costs like 200 dollars?
I hope they do.
I'd say that's safe enough.
It's because of the source of the diodes. You can get them for like $33 a piece.
So why not cut the price on the other lasers? If this new one presents the new line, the same diodes should be able to be used in the older ones to cut their cost dramatically.
I haven't found anyone who's actually succeeded in buying one.

That doesn't happen overnight, but they'll most likely do it sooner or later.
Nobody will buy their old weak lasers for 3 times the price when there's a better one.

What do you mean?
It seems 1 Watt is basically it's limit. A lot of people have done tests with them, and they seem to just require too much power to get over 1 Watt. Heat is not an issue.
But why the hell would you want anything more powerful? 1 Watt is just crazy, what would you do with anything more? The only real use for >1 Watt would be in a scientific or industrial setting, not as a toy for someone to blind and burn people.
I just figured my dad would like a bitchin' rad completely silent hunting rifle, but then again he's not exactly the sharpest crayon in the box so that's a bad idea in and of itself. :v:
But seriously, I'd like to try it just to see if it COULD be used as a weapon of sorts. I figure if I could burn through half of a watermelon with a couple of shots it'd be pretty nasty. Not that I plan to use it on anything living, I'm just the kind of guy who wants to see if X is possible.
