why are you here

check this guy out
And if there was a point to it OTHER than burning things... Faster? I think I would be OK with it.

Again, switches vs stabbing.
If we want to go along with your logic, that high powered lasers are incredibly deadly super-hazardous terroristic weapons, then let's compare them with firearms.
They both can be used to inflict harm. A laser can burn a person and a firearm can send a bullet through them.
However, firearms you can go to a gun range with, which we do for fun, because it's a very entertaining, stress relieving activity. High powered lasers can be used to pop balloons, ignite playing cards, and do all sorts of neat tricks, which are equally fun and stress relieving.
Just because one idiot shines a laser at an airplane doesn't mean you should ban them for everybody who uses their lasers responsibly.
I'm so glad that laser pointers are illegal in Australia, if they weren't, some dumbfuck at my school would get this and blind everyone.
They were creaming their pants over getting a normal laser pointer because it's "jus liek star warz pew pew i shot u eye!!!!", and they're pretty rich, imagine how easy it would be for them to get these and be dumbasses.
I personally don't like the fact that a lot of countries are banning high powered lasers, but it's necessary because people are blinding aircraft pilots with them.
I just wish there were less idiots in this world so that the regular people would stop being shat on. :sigh:
Everyone is seriously taking me wrong. I love lasers just as much as the next guy, but I got too many people in my life who would be stupid enough to do something like that.
As for the explosive substances comment, I was referring to the chemistry sets which they used to have no extensive warnings on back in the early 90s. Though I thought it was completely stupid that they took away the real stuff, and that all the problems could have been avoided by NOT letting the 12 year old mix up the powders.
As for everyone who's getting one, my only request is: keep it fricken safe.

I'm sorry if I might have been a little harsh, I was just trying to prove the point that a high powered laser is no different from any other device, in that it's only dangerous if intentionally being used maliciously or if the user is incompetent.
I'm sorry mate. :frown:

Not a problem, I'm sorry for being too unclear about my actual thoughts
We cool now?
ITT: Oify loves laser pointers.

(User was banned for this post ("nsfw image" - Lithifold))
Lasers are only dangerous because kids and adults see them as toys. While I don't believe there should be a ban on lasers, I do believe there needs to be strict restrictions put in place to keep them out of the hands of kids and away from the eyesight of the public.
I'm probably going to get a bunch of "oh it's not that dangerous and no kid can ever afford that", but in a few years I bet anyone will be able to get a laser even more powerful than this for cheap. That laser is literally a weapon.
Soon we can have real lasguns
[editline]06:32AM[/editline]
Still
I'm afraid some dumbshits are going to get it and blind everybody
[editline]06:32AM[/editline]
as cool as it may be
Hahahaha, a few days ago I was talking to my brother (25) on Pidgin. He's eagerly awaiting his to arrive. He said that he ordered it nearly as soon as it was announced because of the high likelihood of it being banned. Said it comes with protective eyewear, but that doesn't mean crap if anyone but that person is around.
"Hey guys check out my new laser"
*click*
"OH DEAR LORD!"
Everyone is like "Oh cool" when it could actually be the perfect mugging weapon.
If you fire this in a Hall of Mirrors you'd probably be disintegrated or something.
I am reven.
These are now BANNED in Australia.
Battery life is probably SHIT.
This would be PERFECT in the suit I'm designing. Mount it on my arm, wear my helmet which has been filtered to living hell along with the rest of my body armor, and I'd be a juggernaut in combat.
Now if only my combat Armour was bulletproof.
Someday, I will have my super suit! And the world shall be mine.
I'd only use it in combat though. And I mean Heavy, I prepared-for-war-so-I-put-on-my-STINGER-suit-combat, not a fist fight or a mugging.

Normal pointers are already banned.
Hmm, i forsee many manchildren incinerating each other.

Battery Lifetime: 120 mins

Check out technical specs
Also, it's Nominal Ocular Hazard Distance is around 211 meters (a little under 700 feet), being able to hurt an unprotected eye. At that range your skin won't be be hurt. It also requires 0.25 seconds of full exposure to the laser at this range, but you probably wouldn't be able to hold the laser steady enough for that to happen at that range.

If anyone could find out how fast the eyelid reflexes are that would make us able to find out how dangerous this item is
Battery life is probably SHIT.
Actually, 2 hours.
And I bought an extra battery.
We don't take defensive kitchen knife courses do we?
It's much harder to be blinded for life by a knife accidentally...
These people who are like "It's ok I know what I'm doing" scare me so much. I can see it now, having a party, lots of drinks (..)
Well, I don't drink.

Wicked Lasers guarantees that your item will arrive safely at your doorsteps. Sounds too good to be true.
Lol yes you could actually earn money by exploiting this.
I love this kind of stuff. Not for the whole burning/childish antics that I am reading on this thread, but just to have and maybe use once in awhile like point straight at the sky, pointing it at a series of miniature mirrors/crystals and check out the results.
I could get this, but I really don't feel like it at the moment. Probably later.

0.1 seconds; you'd lose half your visual ability. That's likely into the range of 'blindness'

And any of the other powerful lasers out today couldn't do this?
This laser is like when people buy oversized guns/machineguns for the sake of it
