Reading this thread and seeing people saying that the parents are to blame doesn't make sense to me. Yeah, they didn't agree with the person's choices but they didn't kick them out of their house or stop feeding them. Couldn't the person just lived with their parents not being happy until they were able to move out instead of killing themselves and blaming them for all their problems?

Imagine this. You're a man, right? I'm just assuming so because men make up the majority of facepunchers. You are told your whole life that you are a girl, even though you know you are a man and feel that you are one, you are told you are a girl and should just accept that and if you think otherwise its just sexual deviancy. This just escalates and escalates until you can't take it any more, and any 'help' you get from your condition just makes you feel worse about yourself. This is what the experience is like, and part of what happened in this particular situation. I doubt you will ever understand fully, but I don't think accepting that some people are transgender should be such a big deal.

Just talking to people about their daily struggles and how hard it is to live when most people don't even accept you or call you by the right name/gender is a serious eye-openner. It's absolutely horrible, and I feel really shitty knowing there isn't anything I can do to help (besides calling people out pretty much). I'm glad that transphobia isn't tolerated on FP anymore, but I kinda wish all of the transphobes were gone already (like every other really awful poster that's racist/homophobic/etc).

It's a lot better now, but there's still going to be assholes who stir up stuff over the tragic suicide/struggles of transgendered people. A male who wants to be a girl is a she, a woman who wants to be a guy is a he. Seeing as the pronouns are gendered, not sexed, this makes sense really.
