My step-great-grandmother was actually entirely unable to remember her husband's name at the funeral, or the names of her kids. Her memory's fine even now, but she was just so distraught that those parts of her memory blanked. Same thing happened with one of my uncles. I'm not saying this woman's not a horrible mother, but I do think we need to carefully consider why. Granted, the situation fucking sucks, but it's not like every single loving parent is always going to absolutely remember their child's exact age. Besides, she was only a year off the first time.

The list goes on.[/QUOTE] I understand your argument, but we need to consider the surrounding information prior to this incident. The relationship between Leelah and the parents were very harsh. So harsh that she even left a big "fuck you" to her parents before she killed herself. Therefore, I have doubts that this was actually due to greif by any means. More likely this post was just a quick write up that she wanted to get out of the way so the public wouldn't think anything of this incident. She more likely than not had little to no emotion writing this up and gave little care to remembering her age. She probably merely edited just to keep herself from looking bad in case someone said anything. (She made herself look worse though considering that we caught both of the posts.) I respect your position, but I just don't see greif being the case here.

I hope her mother realizes how much of a religious nut she is, after being so disrespectful to her daughter even after her death.

What a shame she killed herself. I understand she must have felt horribly and I don't mean to disrespect her in any way, I am still confident she could have led a great life. Still, the people who are obviously responsible for her death are her parents.

In Denmark we have a thing called "psykisk vold" which means "mental violence" but could probably better be translated to "emotional abuse" and it is one of the things that can get you in deep legal shit for child abuse.
