This has been a thing on SH for a while and has reached an all-time peak during the elections where people would call each other the most stupid names while at the same time claiming it was all in the name of some higher cause. There's also this shit where people are perfectly content to sustain themselves in their own flaming circlejerks but the instant someone point it out for what it is (a flaming circlejerk) then the same people who claimed they were capable of having an intelligent discussion just crawl into a corner and dodge the accusations by (usually very poorly) trying to reflect them back.
