AL governor candidate on multilingual driving tests: "This is Alabama. We speak English."

I always thought this was bullshit. My Japanese grandmother had to learn English, nobody overhauled our society for her, why do we have to do it now? It's always been this way, immigrants need to adopt our language to some degree at the very least, if not completely integrate.
Rated late, solely because these commercials have been running for over two months.

And Tim James is a fucking idiot.
Now, if you come to any European country, learn to speak their language.
If you come to germany, you better speak german too.
Jawohl, aber warum muss Man gibt Ausland Prufungen in Amerika?
Spanish is an awesome language
The Federal Government has not imposed a language on a national scale, choosing to leave it in the hands of the state.
In this case, Alabama has chosen English as the official language, as it represents over 97% of their population.
This is not a case of ignorant American.
It's no different than if you wanted to visit Mexico.
Do you really think everyone there speaks English? Hell no. You better know some fucking Spanish if you want to get anything done.
Ahaha, an Alabaman claiming to know how to speak English. Classic.
First of all, it's Alabamian.
Second of all, it's called an ACCENT. Everyone fucking has one.
Third, there's also a little something called LOCAL DIALECT.
If you think it needs to be bilingual: Think about people who are in actual bad situation in their countries [that are non spanish speaking], and come to America to look for a new start. SUDDENLY they have to speak English AND Spanish to live and drive here? Yay learning 2 languages for one country.
English is the international language, it's near vital for anyone to know how to speak English before they go to English speaking countries.

I think the idea was that you learn one or the other, not both.
It's kinda hypocritical to be honest, people from the U.S go to other country's and try to pull that "Talk English fool" attitude. America was founded by immigrants, built by immigrants - America is a nation of immigrants. Sure you might be born in the U.S, but America is so diverse you can't just stick with one language. I would rather have tests in different languages and have these people pass the test instead of driving without a license and possibly hurt someone because they don't know what any of the signs or rules are.
It's just ignorant to say that, we're in a global environment, yes i agree that people should at least know how to speak some English if they're going to live in the U.S. But hell even some of the younger generation who was born in America can hardly speak English let alone. (Slang and all that other shit.) Most people don't even know what a Adjective, pronouns, nouns, compound sentences, ect are. People wonder why immigrants or non-English speakers fail, they're not given the tools to succeed.
Alabama being revolutionary? Never would've thought...
This is a great idea. It would probably slow down immigration in a slight bit if you were required to fluently speak english to enter the country, or use anything.

If you move to a country where you don't know the language, you better get your ass learning it.

They aren't forcing them to speak English for day to day life, they just want them to take the Drivers Test in English so we can be ensured they can Read the Road Signs and communicate with Police officers, also lets take this into Account, the Test is given in the Following Languages:
Arabic, Chinese, English, Farsi, French, German, Greek, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Thai and Vietnamese.
Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Greek, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Thai Don't even use the Latin Alphabet, and until we produce signs in it I see no reason why the Driving Test has to be in these Languages in a State which declared it self English Only over 20 years ago.

(Note I omitted Thai since I couldn't get google Translate to work and Farsi and Arab due to me Running out of space)

Since you seem to love English so much, I corrected the errors in your post.

I <3 this man now.
why do you love a person who's acting like a jackass
remove multilingual tests and you'll loose federal funding, making the DMV even more shit that it usually is; he's also a pro-lifer and anti-gay marriage
he's just your typical Social Conservative dick

Here's a crazy idea: Learn proper English grammar.
Every road sign is in English. It makes no sense to let people who can't speak English drive. They have the colors and shapes to facilitate knowing their meaning without knowing the language, but still the majority of stuff requires English to know what is going on for sure.

General hearsay also says he's a fantastic racist. :v:
It's not like they require learning a lot of English. just learn stuff like stop, route, exit, things that appear on road signs. It would not take that long.

Uh no the majority of stuff is based on symbols, shapes, and colors, not English.
The only thing you would really need to know to drive safely would be how to read arabic numerals, and most people know that anyway.
Well, maybe the word "End".
Nothing annoys me more than the phrase "This is America, we speak English, so you don't get anything in Spanish." People fuck over anyone who doesn't speak English, then complain that so many Mexicans out there are in gangs or doing shitty jobs. Sure it would be ideal if every immigrant could come over and learn English in a month but that's not how things are, and if we refuse to give them any help then don't expect them to have any chance in the business world.
I wouldn't mind if there was a Spanish version of the test with the signs on the road left in English in pictures on the test. That way they fully understand what to do when they see that certain sign.
uhh
Firstly, I'm from the US.
Secondly, the majority of the US are complete idiots, and say that all the time.
hahahahahahahahahahahhahaha
OK, idiot.
edit:
you're just a stupid nerd who thinks he's smarter than everyone else, get over yourself and get some friends

If someone is planning to go to Alabama, a state where English is the official language, they damn well ought to learn English if they want to take a state test. It's common sense.
When I took my permit test, the person ahead of me in line couldn't speak English and started listing off numbers in Spanish during the eye test.
Most of the country speaks English. Instead of them bitching about it just learn the fucking language the majority already know so its easier for everyone instead of having two different fucking languages.
If I moved to Mexico I would learn Spanish first. Why because that's what the majority there speak.
