What's important to realize is that Soviet Union, China, and United States made it worse and killed a lot of people there.
The US did great tactically. But horrible morally and politically.

I think the USSR and the Chinese are essentially blameless apart from giving materiel support to the North Vietnamese. The burden rests pretty clearly with the US

The USSR spent most of its time supporting tinpot dictatorships and trying to get them to have proxy wars with the USA or its allies.
