Yeah, kinda. They haven't even finished cleaning up, which will take ages. Hold your horses.

A bit, but at least it looks good.

This entire Fukushima incident is marketing propaganda to increase hype for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.

Too late. This has been posted atleast 10 times.
At least the government didn't wait a damn week before they told the residents.
And also, since wind generally comes from Asia, luckily, most fallout will blow out into the pacific. (In Chernobyl it went all over Europe, especially affecting Scandinavia & northern Britain)
And everybody else misses my thread on this.

Now that's informative. It's the first time I ahve seen a chart that notes what teh other 5 levels are and accidents that relate to them. Now that it's put into how bad the accident is, yes, I can agree that Fukushima is absolutely a 7.

You know, that would make a good game, and actually put things into perspective. If they did it like CoS and Brothers in Arms, actually mapping everything in those locations as it were in the real world, including the damage.
It's like that Space Engine program... Sure you know space is big, but to zoom out and be able to see as many galaxies as we can see stars and move around them, you think 'Whoa'
if there's a god then he's an evil fucker. i hope nothing happens for a while, japan need a breaks.
Of course it's too soon, the event is still occurring you fuck.
So is Chernobyl. It takes millions of years for that shit to decay.
Its for reasons like this why I am against nuclear energy UNTIL we can WITHOUT A DOUBT have everything under control.
Its for reasons like this why I am against nuclear energy UNTIL we can WITHOUT A DOUBT have everything under control.
No one can have anything 100% under control, especially when it comes to anything industrial. We rely on so much we have no control over, Nuclear energy just happens to have a much worse effect when it goes wrong.

:frog:
Thinking about it, Chernobyl will probably be given another new level at 8, all it's own because even as bad as this is it still isn't Chernobad.

Christ, that's horrible. Those poor bastards :frown:
Kinda related, Blue Whales, do they inhabit the area near Japan? I hope they're not irradiated, they're endangered.

It was hit with a huge 8.1 earthquake, dozens of aftershocks including other major ones such as yesterdays 7.1, there's only so much you can do aganst earthquakes. The plant itself if 40 years old also

Not likely the Northern ones, they are found in the Atlantic. The Antarctic blue whale and pygmy are found closer south near the Indian ocean, but I don't think they would be threatened.
Good luck, Japan. :frown:
Nuclear reactors should be built as if everything is expected to go wrong so that when anything does, it's been planned for

In my opinion the scale is too small, fukushima and chernobyl are both 7s but chernobyl is much, MUCH worse and always will be
Saying that it's "as bad as" Chernobyl is a bit different than going with what officials have said about it being in the same category, but not nearly as bad. NPR spent a good 10 minutes lecturing me on this earlier.
But hey, sensationalist thread titles are fun aren't they?
Dumb fearmongering succeeds as usual, fukushima is as bad as chernobyl. ON THE SCALE. THE SCALE IS NOT BIG ENOUGH.
If the scale went from 1 to 2, then three mile island would be as bad as chernobyl on that shitty scale
FUCK.
I was hoping the title would be "Fukushima officially stable" or some sort
God damn Japan :smith:
