Ehh, they just pump out the gasoline and refill it with diesel. It's actually pretty cheap to fix.
My dad made the same mistake when he was abroad one day and some joker had switched the gasoline and diesel pump hoses.

It may be true still, but it may have a manual switch for telling the system what fuel is being used, and using gasoline may have caused excess stress on the internal components while it was in diesel mode, thus leading to a failure.

I watched a documentary on this just yesterday.
Apparently, it's a high tech tank-vehicle with short-term life support features built in to ensure the Presidents getaway. It's expensive as fuck, and Is pretty much one of the safest cars in the world. It's equipped with out of ordinary strong glass, even stronger than the highest projection level bulletproof glass, and is shielded with thick, titanium and mix metal plates on every inch. Even the fuel tank is covered in a sponge which protects it from bullet damage.
And... it kinda gets stuck on slight bumps

It's probably gonna be outfitted with adjustable air suspension system when it returns to the US.

I don't get why people are so surprised the limo is a diesel?
Diesel fuel is used pretty much everywhere else in the world for normal passenger vehicles except in the US - considering this car is taken overseas, why wouldn't you use diesel?
Plus the extra torque and general reliability for heavy pulling... why not?
