Listen man, I hear you. But Obama did some kind of not presidential stuff as well. Kicking that door, dropping the mic, doing a bit with key and peele. You can't really get riled up over satire. It's just not a good look. If you don't like the guy, that's cool. But at least find something good to go after him about. Not this petty shit.
Obama had tact. Obama knew how to make himself approachable to the average American (Something which Fox News criticized heavily about him) without actually appearing distasteful, offensive or gaudy. Obama never appeared non-presidential in public, and carefully chose his words on every public speech, particularly in anything related to international relations. There has never been a president before Trump that has carried himself in such a thoroughly un-presidential manner, and you can immediately tell the impact by the reaction of world leaders to him. Trump's actions and words have weight now, he's no longer just a B-list celebrity, and for the sake of the American people it's about time he realises this.
Just imagine if someone put hillarys head on trump and trumps head on the person getting beat up and she saw it somewhere and tweeted it. Everyone would think that is funny, but no, because it's trump everyone is pissing and moaning.
I wish we lived in your reality where Hillary won
Ignoring the "door kicking" which was fake, stuff like "dropping the mic" or "doing a bit with Key and Peele" is not on the same league as this. This is Trump casually normalizing the idea of making an enemy of the press, even setting aside the debate of whether or not he was genuinely encouraging violence with this tweet (which I doubt he was). This is different from the examples you brought up, and your argument is a bit disingenuous.
I don't know about you, but I personally think CNN is full of shit and has an agenda. It's my personal opinion that I formed after watching CNN for years. But once again, I'm not saying it was the right thing to do, but at the end of the day it's a satirical 5 second GIF. People are getting butthurt over a 5 second GIF. That kind of makes them look like bitches. [editline]3rd July 2017[/editline]
Obama had tact. This is the President of the United States speaking on an official capacity. I don't know how old you are, but this is in no way normal or expected behaviour for a world leader, and none of the previous presidents have done anything like this.
I find it disturbing that the president is advocating violence towards the media. You don't have to like them but CNN represents a demographic that makes up a significant portion of this country just like Fox News and they should be shown some respect.

Plus, he actually wrote a letter during his presidency to Washington Post after a journalist there wrote a fairly negative review about his daughter's singing, in which he promised to the journalist that said journalist would be needing a new nose and plenty of beefsteak if he would ever meet that journalist in person. I'd say Trump has still some ways to go before topping Truman in that regard.
"I have just read your lousy review buried in the back pages. You sound like a frustrated old man who never made a success, an eight-ulcer man in a four-ulcer job, and all four ulcers working. "I never met you, but if I do, you'll need a new nose and plenty of beefsteak and perhaps a supporter below.''
That's an implied threat of violence/assassination against his political opponent, not the press, but Trump has already gone past "I'll give you a black eye and a broken nose". Plus the multiple times Trump has encouraged protesters at his rallies to be objected by any means necessary and that he'd pay anyone's legal bills.

Truman was a man with such high regard for the office he refused to corrupt its integrity by not taking any corporate positions after leaving it, which lead to the passing of the Former Presidents Act. The two are nothing alike. A heated letter exchange is not comparable to a shitpost on Twitter.

Dunno what that protester was expecting though, maybe he thought ''If I get beaten up for this, I win''?
Trump is an enigma wrapped in mystery because he has a mental disorder I just don't know which ones, he has elements of bipolar disorder, MPD, ADHD, and NPD.

I don't expect everyone to be an encyclopedia for this shit but it's frustrating how little people choose to remember
EDIT: wow fuck, how did I end up here. wrong thread.
oh man Jet set radio future is gonna be 2am EST for me... I'm gonna have to down a crap load of coffee to stay awake and see that.
Wow, that's pretty cool man! Hope you have fun!

If Trump posted a video of him bashing Hilary or vice versa, sure whatever, it's a slap fight between two individuals. But if a president, any president, posts a video of him dunking on a representation of the free press, it looks bad. Trump is coming from of a position of power here and it will inevitably look like he's shitting on the little guy here. this is ignoring all the fake news bullshit he likes repeating too.

When will you realize that "but Hillary" is a terrible deflection? We don't like Hillary, no it wouldn't be funny, and she isn't the president. Hillary deflections should be bannable at this point.
Guys, this tweet isn't as harmless as it seems, CNN seems genuinely distressed by the event.

Pretty sure everyone here, and on most of the Internet generally mocked her, "Delete your account," tweet, or that even worse covfefe one she did last month. No one feels the need to relentlessly defend her shitty tweets that were lobotomized by her social media team.
People should stop using clinton to defend what trump has done imo
Also, I know this is unsurprising, but the dude who made the video is racist as hell.
Huffpo is reporting that the guy who brought this up on Twitter is now receiving death threats for it.
Wow.
Here is a link to the article:
The Reddit user who initially claimed credit for President Donald Trump's tweet that showed Trump tackling CNN issued an apology Tuesday for the video and other offensive content he posted -- one day after CNN identified the man behind the account and attempted to make contact with him. Reddit user "HanA**holeSolo" first shared the GIF last Wednesday of Trump pummeling a wrestler with CNN's logo imposed on his face. CNN could find no earlier instance of the GIF. The GIF was later edited into a video with sound and tweeted by the President on Sunday. On Reddit, "HanA**holeSolo" took credit for inspiring the tweet. Soon after, "HanA**holeSolo's" other posts on Reddit, some of which included racist and anti-Semitic imagery, quickly circulated on social media. Now the user is apologizing, writing in a lengthy post on Reddit that he does not advocate violence against the press and expressing remorse there and in an interview with CNN for other posts he made that were racist and anti-Semitic. The apology came after CNN's KFile identified the man behind "HanA**holeSolo." Using identifying information that "HanA**holeSolo" posted on Reddit, KFile was able to determine key biographical details, to find the man's name using a Facebook search and ultimately corroborate details he had made available on Reddit. On Monday, KFile attempted to contact the man by email and phone but he did not respond. On Tuesday, "HanA**holeSolo" posted his apology on the subreddit /The_Donald and deleted all of his other posts.

After posting his apology, "HanA**holeSolo" called CNN's KFile and confirmed his identity. In the interview, "HanA**holeSolo" sounded nervous about his identity being revealed and asked to not be named out of fear for his personal safety and for the public embarrassment it would bring to him and his family. CNN is not publishing "HanA**holeSolo's" name because he is a private citizen who has issued an extensive statement of apology, showed his remorse by saying he has taken down all his offending posts, and because he said he is not going to repeat this ugly behavior on social media again. In addition, he said his statement could serve as an example to others not to do the same. CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change.
This is unbelievable. It sounds like they are blackmailing him.
Wow.
This is really, really low, even for CNN IMO. [Editline]tbh I think moonman is hilarious[/editline] Who was the genius editor that greenlit this? A media corporation intimidating a kid into censoring himself doesn't make for the best reflection on the brand.
What a bunch of fucking morons. Not only is that just plainly morally reprehensible, but do they realize that they just "legitimized" all that #FakeNews bullshit? They just galvanized one of the most hateful, racist, sexist, transphobic, and above all ignorant groups in modern America just to get a petty blow in. I'm disgusted.
It's a dumb gif with some sound attached to it. CNN just ruined more of their credibility.
It's a dumb gif with some sound attached to it. CNN just ruined more of their credibility.
Did you ignore the part where it was the president posting it
This is unbelievable. It sounds like they are blackmailing him.
Not really. It sounds like they wanted to contact him for an interview and he got spooked and razed his social media.
The apology came after CNN's KFile identified the man behind "HanA**holeSolo." Also, this bit is just hilarious:
When asked specifically about his other posts that consisted of racist, Islamophobic, and anti-Semitic language and imagery, he answered, "I love people of all races, creeds and origins. One of my best friends is a homosexual and one of my best friends is Jewish and one of my best friends is Muslim."
I'm hoping that is just a terrible choice of words for "Well if he decides to go public we already have his name and will publish it too like any other news agency." Because how they lead up to "CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of this change" after stating all the steps he's taken to try and apologize for this is scummy as fuck.
