If during the first few months of campaigning here on FP dealing with Trump supporters are any sign, it's impossible to "communicate with supporters", especially "about what's wrong".
This applies to people against Trump as well, but I guess self reflection is a hard thing to do. Or is it right to post a thread about Trump eating a taco?

Could you please stop pretending otherwise? The difficulty in communication, in this situation at least, stems from either your unwillingness or inability to read between the lines and not just take things at face value. It was obvious to everyone else what Trump was really trying to do as soon as they saw the tweet.

You people are just buying into his shit and think you are doing something to fight him by focusing on him eating a taco, so good job.
To be fair, with FP being so heavily anti-Trump it doesn't surprise me that more moderate supporters don't want to speak up, so all we see are the hardliners who don't care if they get flamed or hated.
No supporters want to speak up and the ones that do eventually get fed up and leave. If you want people to like you just make an epic zinger about Trump and his supporters being racist pig idiot retards and parrot shit that you saw on CNN.

I'm capable of explaining in purely objective terms why Trump would make a terrible president that you should not vote for under any circumstances whether you are a liberal or a conservative. The only one here throwing a shitfit is you because you so desperately feel the need to defend Trump from the slightest taps against his ego. Nobody is "focusing on him eating a taco", it's a funny story that also shows how transparent the guy is.
No supporters want to speak up and the ones that do eventually get fed up and leave.
Get banned for shitposting*
If you want people to like you just make an epic zinger about Trump
Factual statement about Trump*
and his supporters being racist pig idiot retards
I wouldn't go so far as to call them idiot retards but a tremendous amount of Trump supporters seem to either be ignorant on positions that Trump himself holds.
and parrot shit that you saw on CNN.
Cite me a time CNN lied about something Trump said or did.

Also, you can buy his album at my music shop! I love blacks! Please vote for me!
It's just hilarious. No one is saying Trump would be a bad president because of this, it's only because of all the other dumb shit he's been spewing for a while now. If he gains more supporters because they feel bad for him because he's ridiculed for saying dumb shit, well then those supporters are morons. It isn't the fault of anyone other than Trump voters if he becomes president, which is how a democracy is supposed to work, I guess.
Honestly I'm surprised it's not a picture of himself.
Or his face glued on top of his ex-wife's bikini photo.
This applies to people against Trump as well, but I guess self reflection is a hard thing to do. Or is it right to post a thread about Trump eating a taco?
is it significant in the grand scheme of things? no. is it symbolic of how out-of-touch the right, both populist and establishment, are when it comes to people of other races? yes. there is nothing wrong with eating a taco bowl on cinco de mayo, but there is something bizarre about what the motives behind eating that taco bowl could be. if the goal was just to give a tongue-in-cheek update, fine, but he couldn't possibly expect anything less than scrutiny when his campaign came out swinging with nativism and antifactual statements about illegal immigration from the get-go. if the goal was to pander to another demographic, then it's tone-deaf on multiple levels: - first, it's already a well-established stereotype that americans usually only have food like tacos and burritos in mind when prompted to talk about hispanic culture - the post falls right into that trap. - second, it's condescending. we don't know if the post was actually an attempt at pandering, but if it was, then it assumes that hispanics can be wooed over by eating hispanic-sounding food instead of, say, meeting with prominent hispanic figures and leaders in america or, say, proposing policies that benefit hispanics or, say, doing grassroots organizing in hispanic communities or, say, doing anything more significant than eating food and taking a picture of it. - third, it's poorly executed. if it was pandering, then the message he was trying to send could have been communicated without a transparent 'i love hispanics!' added to the end. so even if you ignore the obvious problems with the content, the delivery was lazy and ham-fisted. really, though, i don't think this was a legitimate effort to gain latino support. rather, i think the post is more for white supporters than anything. tiny stuff like this serves three functions: a) it puts plausible deniability in the minds of supporters about the dog-whistle racism and reactionary nativism that his campaign promotes. the post essentially consoles supporters that "no, this campaign isn't about bigotry, look at how much i love them" without doing anything particularly significant or risky. b) it gives supporters something to latch onto to defend him against allegations of bigotry. "look," the supporter says, "he celebrated cinco de mayo! if his campaign was about a distaste for hispanics, then he wouldn't have celebrated the holiday!" c) it magnifies trump's underdog status, because someone somewhere was obviously going to make fun of this. the resultant criticism galvanizes supporters, because instead of going "hey, y'know, maybe that was kind of stupid", they'll instead go "it's just a taco bowl you hippie PC fucks stop overreacting."

"It's funny, but is it ethical!?"
