I don't know what the phrase "the means justifying the ends" means in this context.
Regardless, the logic of an argument is separate from the subject of an argument.
The arguments "X is wrong because that guy's ugly" and "X is true because that guy's crazy" are both ad hominem arguments. The subjects may be different, but the lines of reasoning are identically flawed.
But if they had not done that, without being an ad hominem and then can do it. And how do you not know what that phrase means?
Does that not seem racist at all?
No. Dude. Ha.
Statistically, black people commit more crime than any other demographic in this country. That's a fact. It's not racist to say that. I have spent the bulk of this thread, however, explaining that those statistics are a bullshit argument to use in a racial agenda, as they only exist due to a long history of disenfranchisement and subjugation, using a host of sociopolitical factors to attempt to prove it.
I'm totally confused how you could have read my posts in here and come away with the conclusion that I think black people are just criminals.
Theres a reason why its called the theory of evolution and why its not called the theory of creationism.
Not that this has anything to do with anything
theory in a scientific context means "an explanation for a set of facts which is well substantiated and has predictive value".
Evolution is well substantiated and has predictive value. Creationism is not and does not.
but you're right, this is all irrelevant
you still haven't actually told us what the criminality hypothesis is
you still haven't actually told us what the criminality hypothesis is
I have been waiting for this for some time, Kurgan. We all have. You keep putting it out there as the linchpin of your argument, but you haven't explained what it actually is.
They dominate the demographics for urban poverty, and urban poverty presents unique conditions for crime that will not exist, or exist on a much smaller scale, in whiter areas with similar poverty levels.

No. Dude. Ha.
It's not racist to say that.
lol what
Oh yeah because kiwis just know sooo much about what goes on here in America.
Please go deal with your own problems first. :)
actually new zealand has quite similar problems regarding racial minorities & disproportionate crime statistics with USA

That sounded really racially charged
Don't listen to him Metrics, he's the real racist!

No, you weight them inversely according to their complexity.
If you have a list of hypothesis that generate identical predictions, you go with the simplest. The Cartesian Demon produces the exact same sensory information you would see otherwise, but you don't entertain it as a serious hypothesis because it is strictly more complex than the default.
No, not complexity. If the most likely conclusion was the least complex one then particle physics would have been thrown out years ago.
"Simple" in the context of Occam's Razor means the explanation that requires the fewest number of assumptions. For example, the assumption that black people are more prone to criminal behavior on a biological level.
The Cartesion Demon is the least complex explanation around, but it requires you to assume that all information you ever have, will, or could acquire is false. So it fails Occam's Razor.
occam's razor is a load of bunk designed for people who can't wait for or can't get actual evidence anyway though, so I'm not much of a fan.

oh great, so i was a secret racist too???
oh great, so i was a secret racist too???
M Night Shyamalan's movies are really doing down hill.
lol what
Poverty breeds crime, and urban areas are more prone to certain kinds of crime (namely: violent crime) due to population density and general geography. Black people make up the largest demographic of urban poor in the United States, which is why there is a skew in violent crime statistics between white and black people of similar poverty levels.
You know, it really helps your comprehension of an ongoing discussion if you at least read the post that I was replying to before reacting to it.
lol what
stating a verifiable fact is not evidence of prejudice
using that fact to support a particular unfounded and unrelated conclusion can be

I'm just saying, you can't just go around saying minorities are criminals.

Holy shit.

But you said it was because they were black. Do you even remember your post?

I can't figure out what you're trying to say because you're making too many grammatical mistakes. Your sentences do not make sense.
I'm just saying, you can't just go around saying minorities are criminals.
maybe you should learn to read and understand what he's explaining, not what you think he's saying.
No, not complexity. If the most likely conclusion was the least complex one then particle physics would have been thrown out years ago.
Find a more compact version of the standard model and you'll have a Nobel Prize.
Remember I didn't say the most likely conclusion was the least complex. I said the most likely hypothesis from a set that each give identical predictions is the least complex.
If there's stuff your hypothesis can't account for, you can "buy" more predictive power by "spending" more complexity - you add more epicycles to explain the new stuff.
"Simple" in the context of Occam's Razor means the explanation that requires the fewest number of assumptions. For example, the assumption that black people are more prone to criminal behavior on a biological level.
Which is something we can at least grapple with. Whereas "racism" and "oppression" and so on are abstractions that you can't really pin down.
The Cartesion Demon is the least complex explanation around, but it requires you to assume that all information you ever have, will, or could acquire is false. So it fails Occam's Razor.
No, it's more complex, because in order to generate the sensory information you see, the Demon has to be at least as complex as the world it is simulating, plus additional overhead. It is more complex by definition.

Uhh, did you fail high school english? Because what I said makes perfect sense.
maybe you should learn to read and understand what he's explaining, not what you think he's saying.
He 'explained' that they have a 'problem' with minorities committing violent crimes
But you said it was because they were black. Do you even remember your post?
No, I didn't. I asked Kurgan to give his explanation of why he thinks that criminal statistics are skewed against black people, because he had not (and still has not) given any other hints towards an explanation other than his apparent belief that it's because black people are just more prone to that behavior. Is that where you got confused?

Umm did you actually read your post?
Here let me quote it for you AGAIN
If you are discounting this, then what is your explanation for black crime? Currently, it seems there isn't one, other than the fact that black people are black.

Are you sure that's not you?
You literally said there's black crime because black people are black, and you still deny being racist?

You literally said that it's because black people are black, you want to actually explain it?
The criminality hypothesis is 70% "Because the black IQ distribution is shifted a standard deviation to the left of the white distribution and this is mostly genetic in origin", 10% "Other partially-genetically-mediated non-IQ cognitive differences between blacks and whites", 20% nongenetic factors (including prejudice)
fuuuck i was trying to get that in the automerge so it looked like BDA rated it agree
