i get the feeling that using steam or anything else to take the pictures would remove it
It does.
i get the feeling that using steam or anything else to take the pictures would remove it
I use fraps for literally anything so, I'm safe. I'm even safer knowing that I hate blizzard anyways and won't play any of their games.
It looks like a fun maze.
Thankfully I don't use the in-game screenshot system. :v:
Well, that is clever of them. I looked through some of my screenshots and I don't know how I missed it before in some of the ones I took. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/wCS7c.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/09loh.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/IExbz.jpg[/thumb]
It's so clever because it just looks like really bad JPEG artifacting in those screenshots.
I bet you could just do the same trick people do on paid porn sites and filter the image then re-fill it to avoid that
Well, that is clever of them. I looked through some of my screenshots and I don't know how I missed it before in some of the ones I took. -snip-
Don't really see it, any pointers / edits? (don't play WoW)
Don't really see it, any pointers / edits? (don't play WoW)
This is the full pattern that goes across the whole image: Open this in a new window and if you look closely the pattern appears to look like artifacts/poor quality.
[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/wCS7c.jpg[/thumb]

oh shit, I can now see it even when thumbed :U need to REALLY know what you're looking at.
Yeah, it's a wonder someone caught on to this considering how hard it is to pick it out as a pattern in most screenshots.
This is amazing. So it means that if you upload a progress picture etc. to a Botting website/forum Blizzard can track you. :v:
Yeah, it's a wonder someone caught on to this considering how hard it is to pick it out as a pattern in most screenshots.
to be fair, in gimp, fuck with curves and it'll show all it takes after a bored mind is someone investigative. If it shows up a shitload then obviously, it CAN'T be the .jpg... right?
This is amazing. So it means that if you upload a progress picture etc. to a Botting website/forum Blizzard can track you. :v:
Get fraps or any SS program, it'll be higher quality and track free :v:
I've been using the steam interface to take 2 screenshots at once for a while now. The steam photos are higher quality anyway
I always thought this would be a good idea for games that are in a closed beta or something, they stole it from my mind!
That's cool, but running private servers should be allowed.
Why? So people can bypass the subscription fee?
This is the full pattern that goes across the whole image: Open this in a new window and if you look closely the pattern appears to look like artifacts/poor quality.
Damn how do you do this, i only managed to get this with GIMP: [t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/getimg1.png[/t] wait, is mine actually better? i don't know :S
to be fair, in gimp, fuck with curves and it'll show
That's what i did! :v:
Damn how do you do this, i only managed to get this with GIMP: [t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/getimg1.png[/t] wait, is mine actually better? i don't know :S That's what i did! :v:
You still got the pattern, it's just different in the screenshot you picked.
Damn how do you do this, i only managed to get this with GIMP: [t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/getimg1.png[/t] wait, is mine actually better? i don't know :S That's what i did! :v:
I didn't get the image, I found it on the original thread where this was discovered :v: http://www.ownedcore.com/forums/world-of-warcraft/world-of-warcraft-general/375573-looking-inside-your-screenshots.html
Someone searched through the OSX binaries of WoW and found this
10 million players nobody has noticed this in over 4 years
I've never played WoW, and I don't know how accurate this is, and I'm having issues interpretating it also.
The users were never notified by the ToS that this watermarking was going on so, for four years now, we have all been publicly sharing our account and realm information for hackers to decode and exploit.
The bold bit, how accurate is this?
I bet you could just do the same trick people do on paid porn sites and filter the image then re-fill it to avoid that
explain this please, I don't get it
no wonder wow screenshots look like shit
I've never played WoW, and I don't know how accurate this is, and I'm having issues interpretating it also. The bold bit, how accurate is this?
Not very account names aren't even public anymore and guess what they know which dudes you play with omg
I've never played WoW, and I don't know how accurate this is, and I'm having issues interpretating it also. The bold bit, how accurate is this?
The Realm IP and the account string identifier number, which Blizzard can only match up, are shown.
It brainwashes people into using the real-money auction house in Diablo III. They'll probably make one for WoW as well.
The Secret World did this during their beta.
It brainwashes people into using the real-money auction house in Diablo III. They'll probably make one for WoW as well.
Looks like someone reads too much Info Wars.
From the sound of it, it requires you to use the ingame screenshot function or have I misinterpreted it? I always used things like ZScreen for screenshots myself; love that crop+upload functionality.
