Fuck my country I'm moving to chillie
Is that like the British version of "I'm moving to Canada"?
I don't want to get into a big political debate but this sort of musical censorship is as equally if not mroe in line with the current conservative party as it would be with an illiberal left
Isn't kind of weird that a traditionally conservative i.e. anti-gay marriage type of person would be going about banning people from stuff for apparently being homophobic based on the words they use though? Then again, a lot of traditionally conservative politicians probably don't care much about the views they claim to be about and just want to use whatever mechanisms they can to get into power and fuck up whoever they don't like. In this case, the mechanisms used could be those based on the methodologies of not-liberal progressive leftists, but that just means they're using the technique to get rid of people they don't like, not that they actually believe in whatever that technique stands for.
TL;DR: They don't actually care about homophobia, they just wanted a way to get Tyler banned from the country.
Apart from a juvenile fondness for the word ‘faggot’, which he uses in his songs to refer to anyone and everything, homophobia’s not really Tyler’s strong suit. He helped launch the career of Frank Ocean, modern R&B’s first openly gay male singer, who remains one of his close friends.
Anybody who uses the word faggot is a homophobe eh?
[editline]29th August 2015[/editline]
he says sexist, homophobic and violent
Wow, context doesn't mean shit eh?
Seems like saying faggot is insta-homophobe now? Also is he's racist against black people for saying nigga?
This really isn't the same issue in England is it over there though. Aside from a couple of fringe people here and there this SJW thing hasn't really been a UK problem. The conservatives are a right wing party with conservative values, this is completely in line with their politics and something they'd do at this point regardless of the court of public opinion.
It's not quite as bad in England (according to my girlfriend at least), but free speech is still actively infringed upon at most universities, with student unions commonly being full of SJW-types.

being banned from the UK is my life goal

it's probably less about his homophobia and more about his incitement of violence. Theresa May's whole thing is if you could in any way incite violence in people at all you're on the naughty list. She's a bint.

But this has nothing to do with British politics. The conservative party couldn't care less what leftists think, otherwise the DWP would have been reformed and the NHS wouldn't have treated the way it has. It's more likely a coincidence
He's a popular artist and popular artists sell tickets that help the local economy. Banning Tyler the Creator from the country and then letting Jimmy Carr tour the country saying things significantly more offensive than anything Tyler's said is absurd.
A musician have a lot more power than a humorist though.
A musician have a lot more power than a humorist though.
What makes you say that? They're both performers. They both sell tickets so people can see them.
I've seen more people parading out-of-context Louis CK quotes to support sexist ideas that all women are crazy bitches than I've seen people unironically quoting any musician to deride gay marriage or anything of the sort.
I've seen more people parading out-of-context Louis CK quotes to support sexist ideas that all women are crazy bitches
?
i've seen people quote louis ck about saying faggot but i don't think i've ever seen this. maybe i just glaze over it. i'm not doubting you i just can't remember seeing this situation. which quote do people use, out of curiosity?
so is this actually censorship or are people overreacting
i mean he can't physically go into the country but you can still buy and consume his music right

he's not allowed in the country because the country doesn't like what he has to say
sneaky fucker, glad he's banned and off the streets
He's been leaving hints for us.
Now we just wait for the date he hints at.
I like how people are still on the "but he doesn't mean it :(" kick when it's literally already been stated he's incited his crowds to fight security guards and started a riot
actions and history speak far louder than words and I'm pretty sure the UK will somehow find it in themselves to survive without him

I'd rather have someone come over and get arrested than ban them for what they're capable of doing.

Me, too, truth be told, but honestly any advocacy I had for him went out the window when he started punking the home office. Like what did you expect, man? You pick a fight with a cop, you wind up getting your ass beat or going to jail; you pick a fight with the UK equivalent of Homeland Security, you get barred from the country.
Tyler is one of the least offensive rappers out there tbh

I don't see where he's caused trouble in the UK. I just Googled for more information on any crimes committed in the UK.
The point is "innocent until proven guilty". His US problems are US problems, and he's not actually committing any real acts of terrorism or anything. If this is your definition of a riot, then fine, whatever, but he's essentially been tried before actually committing crimes in the UK, which is bullshit and can only provide bad PR for their government. The best thing to do would be to let him cause petty trouble over there and then nail him for it, because then they have actual justification for their population. Right now, they have "what if's" as opposed to cold, hard evidence that he's going to cause trouble in the UK.
I would expect nothing short of being involved with terrorism in a country to get barred from a different country.

they brought in all this rejecting people from entering the UK stuff when the ISIS stuff was all heating up I think, this is one of the outcomes I was worried would occur
Is anyone really surprised that this came from 'Old White People' the country?
he says sexist, homophobic and violent things all the time so people have every right to believe he is that way. then hes like "nigga uh bruuuhhhh what i say i have no impact niggaaaaaa" when what he says clearly does matters because hes talking infront of large audiences.

Said the American, from the country that took 36 years longer to decide whether it should definitely be legal to be a homosexual or not and more than 60 years and still counting to implement a proper universal healthcare system

It's thinly veiled bullshit. It's an agenda. These people that are calling Tyler a threat are just uptight people who want to walk outside and see only like-minded people with approved leaders.

I can't believe someone actually thinks like this and so open about it - they think that's a good thing. At least in America they try to lie about it.

I can't believe how little of a shit people give that our leader is someone who says things like that. As soon as I saw that quote I assumed within like a couple of weeks we would be moving toward a vote of no confidence. Especially because around the same time they tried to move forward with some other pretty shitty decisions.
I mean fuck we've genuinely made filming facesitting porn illegal in the UK. It's legal to do the act yourself, and it's legal to watch porn from other countries with facesitting in it, but you're not allowed to film it yourself because reasons

But think of the children! The British government seems to be doing a lot of that.
