I didn't even know anything other than turn-key ignition existed
Call me old-fashioned, but I still prefer using a key to start the ignition. I tried reading up on the push button stuff and it looked too confusing to work with.
maybe its cuz im a filthy american pleb but I never understood the love for stick shift
maybe its cuz im a filthy american pleb but I never understood the love for stick shift
From my understanding as a non driver, it's more about being in more control with the vehicle. Personally though i think this car looks gorgeous, i love the body on it.
"the honkey"

Since when the fuck did turn key become obsolete? I've never seen a car that wasn't turn-key, even the brand new ones at the dealership.
I didn't even know anything other than turn-key ignition existed
You only find them on really high end cars. The key itself actually has an RFID tag or something similar and you don't actually put it anywhere. It's enough that it is in the car and you can start it with the push of a button.
From what I understand, rich Chinese people like to be driven. It's possible the owner of the car will never turn that key. Their driver will. They missed a huge opportunity to call it the Hongqi Tonk.
I guess I'm one of the few who hates push to start cars and automatics.. There is no skill required in an automatic it's just lazy and with a standard you really become one with the car and have control of what it does, automatics... you just put it in drive and put your foot down.
A car to me is just a vehicle to move myself from place to place.
people like you are the reason shit like the pt cruiser, spark, and aztek exist o itz just a machine lelz xd
My dad's work had keyless entry Toyota Land Cruisers. They were going to take two of them somewhere but one of the guys in car 1 had car 2's keyfob thing, locking everyone out of car 2 until they got back. So make sure you got a spare fob.
people like you are the reason shit like the pt cruiser, spark, and aztek exist o itz just a machine lelz xd
Well I like that turn-key automatic is the standard in this country. You can have your manual key-button, but most people don't need them.

I'm just driving from point A to point B. Why should I have to do more than put it in drive and go? Again, you all might be talking about from a hobbyist's perspective and I'm not getting that, but it's just a car to me and the average user.
maybe its cuz im a filthy american pleb but I never understood the love for stick shift
dont ever lower yourself then yurotrash again you stupid fucking idiot
people like you are the reason shit like the pt cruiser, spark, and aztek exist o itz just a machine lelz xd
Are you capable of making a good post or does the idiocy just boil over as soon as you start typing? My car is an automatic, I don't see a reason to bother with fiddling around with a manual. The only reason I'd bother to learn driving a manual is in case I had to drive one in an emergency. It's alot more to learn when really I don't care and I can just use my car easily. as it is. But that doesn't make it 'just a machine lelz xd' like your stupid post says. I thoroughly enjoy driving it for what it is. I just have no interest in doing what other people get manuals for because I don't have any need to 'become one with my car' or anything like that. If you do, all the more power to you. I respect the reasons people use manual cars. But don't act like a tard when someone else doesn't have the same feelings on driving you do.
Automatic is fine, only stupid elitists would judge people for being content with a different driving experience lmfao
To be honest, the first thing I thought of when I saw the car was that it was a modern version of the Premier Padmini (or for the rest of the world, Fiat 1100 D) :v: [t]http://www.motorbeam.com/wp-content/uploads/Premier-Padmini-6.jpg[/t] Seriously though, if we're talking about ugly supercars coming out of Asia, this thing tops the list. That is a Mitsuoka Orochi "Nude Top", ladies and gentlemen. Look at that gurning "speshul" front end. The Japanese clearly have them beaten in the ugly competition. [editline]27th April 2014[/editline]
Automatic is fine, only stupid elitists would judge people for being content with a different driving experience lmfao
If people live in the city with stop start traffic, automatics will save their soles. :v: I like automatics for ease of use and I like manuals because you can have a little bit more fun with it. If you can afford to have one of each, go for it but considering how smart some of these auto gearboxes are getting, a lot of the arguments against using them are slowly disappearing.
People who enjoy driving always buy manual cars, reason being you're 100% more in control of your car if you have access to the clutch. It's just a fact. That said, there's nothing wrong with automatics, but the reason the purists always burst into vitriolic rants about automatics or paddleshift gearboxes is because, as these boxes get more popular, people are buying more and more of them. It's getting to the point now where car manufacturers simply aren't interested in making manual gearboxes any more because they're consistently outsold (as in 80 - 90%) by autos. In effect, autos are killing the manual gearbox as we know it, and this is making a great number of automotive journalists, racing drivers and enthusiasts (myself included) very bitter about it. Even Ferrari don't offer a manual gearbox on their 'volume' car, the 458 Italia. That should give you an idea of how deep the rot has set in.
[t]http://puu.sh/8pgmN.jpg[/t] That front end. Fucking Christ I can't stop laughing at it. It's like looking at the result if someone took a dumb-grinning dolphin and smashed it's face flat.

So this means that companies can earn good money in spares that are outside of warranties too. I agree with you for the most part - I learnt on a manual and use an auto as my daily driver, but I think more people should learn on a manual because I've begun to see what my dad likes to call "the disconnect". When he had to learn driving ages ago, my granddad also made him learn and pass a course in basic car maintainence first, and then the driving license. This was the same thing my father did for me as well. People really need to learn more about their cars to take some joy in them, which I don't see enough of anymore, and car makers are cashing in on this willful ignorance. Mitsuoka's catalogue will make you piss yourself laughing with how bad their design department is. This is one of their luxury models, the Le-Seyde. From the Wiki:
Only 500 units were made, and Mitsuoka claims that all were sold within four days after they went on sale.
[t]http://photo.netcarshow.com/Mitsuoka-Le-Seyde_2003_photo_03.jpg[/t] I don't even know who buys them, if companies like Saab can go out of business, how the fucking fuckness is this company still making cars? I mean, what cross-eyed blithering idiot is funding these hideous monstrosities that make people want to hurl when they roll up in an auto show?
Why are we even arguing over automatics anyways? It's a luxury car designed to transport [probably important] people; with an automatic, it's quite difficult for the driver to screw up or be rough in a shift. It's not a car designed for the race track. It should be as smooth as possible. Although one thing I don't understand is the placing of the speedometer, it's in a rather awkward position.
maybe its cuz im a filthy american pleb but I never understood the love for stick shift
Manliness and control. Manliness and control everywhere.. (lol..not suggesting you aren't a man if you don't drive a manual) Control during the icy road months of Albuquerque, NM is a beautiful thing. The only reason I drive an automatic these days is because I drive a 1991 Ford Econoline Conversion Van..no factory made manual gearbox exist for this vehicle to my knowledge. Only reason I'll ever drive an automatic is so I can drive a bad-ass van. The "Hongqi" actually has a sweet design in my opinion.. just not $800,000 sweet.
As someone who lives in a country where turn-key ignition and manual gear shifting is normal, i don't understand the hate for those things.
Nothing wrong with turning a key. Honestly it's just one less thing that's going to fail on you because of electrical issues. Those handles on Tesla cars? They'll eventually stop working and annoy you, powered windows always eventually fuck up, some cars have stupid electric gas caps you have to pry open when those fail, keep a screw driver handy.
