omg i didn't even read the articicle or realize that orange box and other valve games have been on origin since release but I just saw EA and had to come here to say FUCK YOU EA!!!
:downs:
I'm surprised that aren't trying to sell TF2.
I'm pretty sure that'd be illegal
EA has been selling Valve games in retail for years. That's not news.
I'm surprised that aren't trying to sell TF2.
It's free.
I'm loving the baseless hate of Origin. It's the same exact thing as Steam, you just don't like it because it's not Steam.
But they still have Steamworks, don't they? Why is this even news?
It was supposed to be the other way around.

Gabe Newell!
I just think this is stupid because if you were a person using only Origin, it'd mean you'd be forced to get Steam.
It's like how I got annoyed as fuck at finding that ineeded to get a Windows LIVE account to play the Steam versions of GTA IV and Bioshock 2.

It was taken when one of his employees suggested they release Ep3. :v:
Wow that's hilarious. Why would anyone even buy from them?
This is news? I'm pretty sure they were already selling boxed Valve games and who cares anyways.
So they buy the games from Origin, get the copy shipped to them, and end up installing steam to play said games :v:
so let's break it down here
valve - game developer
EA - game publisher
EA is selling Valve's products for them (which they do and have done for quite some time) using EA's service Origin. not digital download copies mind you, hard copies. similar to ordering a boxed copy from walmart's website and waiting for them to ship it to you.
they have every right to do this. they're Valve's publisher. they can sell Valve's games in almost any way they want. they both receive money and publicity.
this does not cause problems for anyone - except perhaps anyone who orders off the origin website, receives their boxed copy, and immediately upon installing the game realizes that you need Steam to play Valve games. i wouldn't say that's going against the grain of either company because in the extremely unlikely event that a person playing doesn't know about Valve/Steam, it could befoul their opinion of either company - EA for getting them to actually use the convoluted Origin ordering system, or Valve for requiring Steam to play games
admit it people, you just have a giant hardon of hate for EA and don't want to admit that there's nothing actually wrong here
My first thought was "How the hell did EA manage to get a hold of the valid algorithm thing for Steam keys?" (I'm not entirely sure what it's called right now but I know what I mean). Then I saw they were box copies. My second thought was "Why do they have so many box copies of these games?" Then I read the thread and learned that EA publishes Valve games retail.
very clever, EA. very clever.
EA is the retail distributor, not the publisher, guys. Valve handles everything else.
I'm loving the baseless hate of Origin. Sure I will admit that I don't like EA but thats not why I have problems with origins.
EA is the retail distributor
I remember thinking it was weird that valve handled EAs pc game distribution and EA handled valves console distribution.
funny this is you are still going to have to install steam to play them.
durhahoho
It's nice to see that Valve is being mature about this.
That said, the EA bandwagon is becoming more apparent with every thread. I almost imagine some of you guys carrying a magnifying glass upon your person to constantly search for things to hate EA for.
OH MAHH GOD FUCK EA FUCK EA EVEN THOUGH I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY BUT FUCK EA.
Its like half of facepunch is retarded, simply saying fuck EA, but doesn't know the reason why they said it. Then in the end, they still end up buying EA games.

100% of users have Steam

But Steam games require Steam to be ran and Steam takes PC Info too.
The only thing wrong here is that EA really HAD to create a new platform for their games, where there already is steam. I don't want to run multiple platforms for my games. It's just the same with GTA 4, I bought it on Steam, I have to create a Rockstar social club account AND a games for windows live account for it. That's 3 platforms FOR A SINGLE GAME. It's shit like that that annoys the hell out of me.
And now, EA creates their origin, Nadeo has their Nadeo planet or whatever it's called, and in the end every major company will have their own "revolutionary" platform.
But I want all my games on a single platform, and Steam is the closest to reach this platform monopoly, and I don't want that destroyed, especially not by EA.

People don't like things out of brand loyalty?!?! Who knew!
In all honesty though, I wasn't impressed with Origin when I had to use it for the BF3 alpha. It still needed some fine-tuning, and all the bullshit in the EULA pisses me off.

There's always been an EA Bandwagon. Case and Point? Mention Command and Conquer, watch the shit hit the fan.

Heh. Not surprised. They did (and still do) this with the console versions of The Orange Box, so who cares? It's old news.
I rarely buy from EA, anyway.
