(Trip Hawkins) Hello Mr.Newell I am calling about the email I sent uh.. so uh.. what do you think we're still pals right?
They should sell TF2.
Fuck that, EA won't put there games on Steam. Steam shouldn't let there games be on Origin.

Fuck EA.

Valve should tell EA to piss off.
My, my, look at the Valve fanboys bravely standing up for Steam against the oppressive Origin.
The only thing wrong here is that EA really HAD to create a new platform for their games, where there already is steam. I don't want to run multiple platforms for my games. It's just the same with GTA 4, I bought it on Steam, I have to create a Rockstar social club account AND a games for windows live account for it. That's 3 platforms FOR A SINGLE GAME. It's shit like that that annoys the hell out of me. And now, EA creates their origin, Nadeo has their Nadeo planet or whatever it's called, and in the end every major company will have their own "revolutionary" platform. But I want all my games on a single platform, and Steam is the closest to reach this platform monopoly, and I don't want that destroyed, especially not by EA.
That's exactly the problem, we need on platform for all of it as it makes it easier for the consumer. Look at iTunes, I know that I can get almost any song on iTunes, and I'd like to know that I could get almost any game on Steam.
People don't like things out of brand loyalty?!?! Who knew! In all honesty though, I wasn't impressed with Origin when I had to use it for the BF3 alpha. It still needed some fine-tuning, and all the bullshit in the EULA pisses me off.
Honestly, i rather liked it, theirs a few things about it that genuinely needs changing (its not very easy to navigate) but how lightweight it is, as well as how quick it would get me into a bf3 game is awesome
so battlefield 3 cant be on steam, but css can? Do you need steam to have css?
I think you have it mixed up.
What about MP though? Won't that run on Valve Servers?
What about MP though? Won't that run on Valve Servers?
Valve don't run their own dedicated servers after the first few weeks of each new release. Most dedi servers are run by third parties, usually gaming fans with monies. That said, I'm sure there are still a couple Valve servers but those are few and far between.
It's just the boxed retail versions of Valve games. EA has been selling them for years.
this you will still need to install steam to play them

I really wish that Battlelog was PART of Origin, for isntance. The fact that you need to access Battlelog through a browser kinda kills it for me. It's not as good as it could be in understanding when you're in and out of games, either, from my experience.
Seems rather pointless if the games will require Steam, because if that's true, why not just buy it on Steam? And if you really want a physical copy I guarantee you can find it cheaper someplace else. And seriously guys you need to stop hating EA for everything they do. I don't like them myself, but there's nothing wrong here.
Wtf is the hate against EA. They box the games, you need to install steam to play them, Valve gets more people using steam and still makes more than EA. EA is screwing themselves over guys, this is Good news

Why do people keep thinking every company is going to be a platform of their own? That's never going to happen.
Origin is bound to fail as a digital distribution service because it's only owned by one publisher, and only sells one publisher's line-up of games.
You guys are just acting retarded, you still need Steam. Not Origin, EA's been on Valve's back for a long time.
It almost seems as if they are doing this out of spite, but it's probably something else. Damn, why can't EA just shut up and go back to being on better terms with Valve? It's not like EA was bound, ball-gagged and asspaddled with Steam distributing their games; EA had a very good deal with Valve.
how come everyone's so mad because they think you need origin to play battlefield 3 (which i'm pretty sure you don't
Nope has been proven you do.
http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey
If you read your own link you would notice that its optional.
That's good, origin is way less intrusive than steam
Nope has been proven you do. If you read your own link you would notice that its optional.
Not only is it optional but it's purely used for understanding Steam's audience better and it helps make better games. If 50% of users use DX10 then it's obvious your game should have DX10 support.
People think EA is being less intrusive, yet you don't know that they're trying to be exactly what STEAM is except more strict and expensive.
That's good, origin is way less intrusive than steam
Origins runs a program that checks your computers hardware/software. I don't know what you mean by intrusive but that sounds pretty intrusive. Unless your talking about hard drive space or something because I hear its smaller.

Unless your talking about hard drive space or something because I hear its smaller.
hey a lot of programs pretty much do that including Steam keep digging to find reasons to dislike Origin and/or EA
including Steam
No they don't. They ask you before you perform a survey. They would have no reason to not have it be optional since they get the same data either way.
People think EA is being less intrusive, yet you don't know that they're trying to be exactly what STEAM is except more strict and expensive.
Origin isn't strict at all. Steam is expensive to a lot of people in other countries because they don't know how to convert currencies while EA does.
No they don't. They ask you before you perform a survey. Please post a screenshot of what the message looks like.
Origin isn't strict at all. Steam is expensive to a lot of people in other countries because they don't know how to convert currencies while EA does.
I have to agree with that. It pisses me off that steam is either to lazy to convert or they want more money. Probably one of the biggest things origins has for it. Can you imagine how much trouble they would get in if they lied and said they wouldn't take your information and actually did?
you know what I've noticed? Origin threads stir a ton of shit just from existing. Same as religion threads. Origin sounds a lot like "religion". Therefore, Origin threads are religion threads.
It almost seems as if they are doing this out of spite, but it's probably something else. Damn, why can't EA just shut up and go back to being on better terms with Valve?
