I do not believe in Robotic Warfare, and what the fuck, I can't believe people here favor an AI as a government instead.
Wasn't this the plot of Terminator 3?
Oh... Oh shit...
I sure do like the idea of allowing a robot to ignore the 3 laws.
Soon, wars will be like videogames with bots vs. bots :v: I imagine us looking back at the days soldiers died for their countries, and then we laugh. We'll be all like "man how stupid we were," and unless we keep upgrading the AI, they should never become self-aware, and therefore make this a good thing. Hopefully. Unless magnets comes and fucks shit up

Nukes would be effect against robots, however I am pretty sure a hyper intelligent AI system would easily find an efficient way to do some sort of EMP shielding.
I doubt anyone would listen to a non-sentient computer, people probably wouldn't listen to a sentient one, either.
when your car says its out of fuel you dont listen to it? [editline]1st December 2010[/editline]
Once the computer gains control over automatize peace keeping powers like armed robots and vehicles, they won't have too much choice.
they would not need to use force if the computer was truely better at managing resources and help making choices because people would just see how much life improved [editline]1st December 2010[/editline]
If it wasn't for war, unfortunately, we would likely still be riding bicycles and living in shacks. If anything will fuel technology, it's war.
thats sad if wanting to blow up other people is a better motivator then wanting to cure cancer [editline]1st December 2010[/editline]
This won't work, robots aren't flexible enough, they can't turn their hand to any battlefield task that needs to be done, they are stuck within the limits of their programming, a human can throw down their gun and put a tourniquet on a comrade a soldier will look at the soldier with its thumb up it's ass completely oblivious.
they can be programmed to learn and change [editline]1st December 2010[/editline]
the human element should never be taken away from government troops. Once they start using machines in place of humans any mercy that once was in the armies of the world will be gone and governments who have them will have too much power. [editline]1st December 2010[/editline] decision making should always have an element of emotion, always.
you can give a robot to want to save the most lives possible or have the robot only give suggestions
A more calculated decision might not mean a better one. In a certain situation a robot might choose to save 10 lives vs. 20. The 20 might be ninety nine year old aids patients. My example was shitty but hopefully everyone gets my point.
I do not believe in Robotic Warfare, and what the fuck, I can't believe people here favor an AI as a government instead.
because logic is better then feelings. feelings are whats keeping gays from marring because they feel its wrong instead of using logic
because logic is better then feelings. feelings are whats keeping gays from marring because they feel its wrong instead of using logic
Your argument could be applied the other way. Biblic logic is what's preventing gays from having rights.
Your argument could be applied the other way. Biblic logic is what's preventing gays from having rights.
that isnt logic. thats feeling and memes getting in the way of logic
One army is commanded by a robot. Other countries, desiring to be on top, do the same. The robots should be programmed to avoid casualties if possible. Robots use logic, both decide to not fight. *Hope.*
"Dammit, Commandtron, I don't GIVE A SHIT if it's the fast route to the enemy camp, MY SOLDIERS CAN'T SWIM THROUGH MOLTEN LAVA."
"Dammit, Commandtron, I don't GIVE A SHIT if it's the fast route to the enemy camp, MY SOLDIERS CAN'T SWIM THROUGH MOLTEN LAVA."
gta 4 has a system smart enough to make a fastest route possible thing while avoiding user death
