Good job valve! Really good job! This game is just FANTASTIC!
I haven't finished singleplayer yet but so far I'm slightly preferring Portal 1. I'm not saying it's bad at all, it's a great game, it's just that the first one gave me some ideas about how aperture worked and all that, and now Portal 2 has shown me otherwise. Maybe once I get over that I'll like it more.
Well, yeah, I have to say I would be excited for this game if anybody other than Valve made it. Although I don't quite see what that has to do with anything?
Seems like he's accusing of only favoring the game just because Valve made it. Not true at all. At least in my case, I found Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 to be boring after awhile, to be honest. And they were released over the course of 2 years ago. Portal 2 spiked my interest because of the theme and innovation.
Someone gift me...
All I have 10 bucks to my name.
That's too bad. If you are so low on money, that probably means you don't have a good enough computer anyways.
I don't. I'm just don't have any cash. Just because I'm low on cash does mean I have crap computer.
Are you using Google Translate?
I think: too many load screens.
I noticed the extra loading screens but it really didn't bother me since they were so short: a few seconds maximum for me.
because the source engine requires a BEAST to run well
Actually, at all full settings, my computer (which goes quite a bit beyond Crysis 2's minimum requirements except for ram) chugged from time to time on Portal 2, usually from looking at too many effects or from the gels; not all that much, though.
because the source engine requires a BEAST to run well
It doesn't, but people that beg in threads about games tend to be people who can't buy anything for themselves.

Haven't finished it yet but I'm almost finished with it and I think. (Haven't touched Co-op, will do that at The Gathering later today) A) Way too many load screens. B 1.1) Much much much work in the environment and animations and maybe too little into the gameplay itself. It's like I'm just walking past years of work in matter of minutes, something that would have been much better had it felt like the challenges had the same amount of work put into them. B 1.2) Too easy puzzles. So far I've only got stuck some 3-4 times which is absolutely nothing compared to the amount of tests I have had to do. Often the solution is as simple as not having seen that wall up there which really takes the fun out of it. The solutions are so straightforward and easy it's seldom a challenge. And sometimes you might just stumble upon the solution by accident which is just as fun as looking up hints or walkthroughs (not fun). C) Wheatley isn't very funny before the second stage, and even then it is hit and miss (he would definitely have been better with the first voice actor they chose). Luckily weightened up by Glados being so butthurt and U MAD, mad. She really has great lines all the time. I also think Cave Johnson's lines aren't all that great. Too standard, normal boss jokes. He has some good lines here and there but he is much better as a trailer voice-over guy in the trailers. Overall I am not that amazed even though the animations for the scenery really is amazing and I love the way the whole place lives on it's own. I just wish I saw that life and work reflected in the gameplay as well instead of 50 normal puzzles and 2-3 hard ones. Hell, it feels like I'm just playing one loooooooong tutorial. It also has to be mentioned I played this at a LAN so I wasn't always able to listen to the game fully since my friends wanted to talk to me every now and then leaving me to have my headphones half-on. WIll definitely play through the whole game one more time taking all the time in the world to admire all the small details and fully listening to all the dialogues and extra dialogues, searching for secrets and all that. [editline]20th April 2011[/editline]
My collectors edition must come fast . My friend keeps telling the game is awful , and portal 1 is better . (Because of ruined design and shop) I hope he is not right
Ruined design? If anything the design is the best bit of this game.
Would you really be excited for this game if anybody other than Valve made it?
Why wouldn't we? If any company made a game as good as Portal and did as good advertisment for it's sequel then of course. It is what Valve does that makes us love them. If any other company treated their games and community the same way we would love them just as much.
