Oops, I think that was Lankist that said that. I can't search my own posts and wasn't able to find it. You win this one, Sanius, because of my massive persecution complex and my inability to speak English, apparently.

You might actually make a point rather than simply a shit-storm.
I was questioning your reading comprehension not your spelling
My reading comprehension is just fine. You see, from your posts, it's difficult to tell if I am legitimately wrong about what i said, or if you're backpedaling. In this case I was wrong.
You really need to learn how to argue constructively. You might actually make a point rather than simply a shit-storm.
It would've been a great argument if I got the right user. Not being able to search my posts sucks. :v: at least I admit when I'm wrong though.
Spain during ww2, the bombing of innocent people. The artwork is supposed to represent the pain and agony of a certain Spanish village, can't remember which one, the bull and the lady with the oil lamp represent hope, and that Spain will one day be strong again.
The name of the city is in the title, literally.
Why are people rating this guy dumb? Isn't what is and isn't art completely based on opinion? If he doesn't want to consider it art, that's his opinion, and there's nothing wrong with that.
I really don't care about his personal distaste for Picasso's work; I don't much like most of the stuff he did either (some of it was really quite nice, but anything done in a cubist style just turns me right off). What I do care about is the fact that he's apparently indifferent to somebody running in and defacing a historic piece of artwork done by one of the most influential and for that matter well-known artists of the 20th century.
If I came and pissed on your work in the name of "art" and say picasso would embrace it its ok then?
If I came and pissed on your work in the name of "art" and say picasso would embrace it its ok then?
I would actually feel honored that my work was noteworthy enough for another artist to deface.
If you think all art should make perfect logical sense you're gonna have a bad time
Well at least it wasn't one of his good paintings.
I would actually feel honored that my work was noteworthy enough for another artist to deface.
I'd think it would be funnier if it turned out this guy was just trying to be a dick.
if you respected art you would defile it without remorse
You just have to say something stupid in every thread, don't you?
It just looked like he poorly scribbled his name on it. It's a perfectly valid artistic statement.....but still, fuck that guy.
I wish I could draw giant black penises over everything Sanius says ever. Since essentially it would add value and be a perfectly valid artistic statement.

What he did was obviously art, but it's still a dick move. Keying someone's car is also art but it's also stupid.
Art or not, he defaced another person's original work for his own personal gain. He deserves a swift kick to the balls and should pay for restoration.
Sanius was pretty OK imho before but now he's just being a gigantic shit head in this here thread... I admit I've said some stupid stuff, but I shamelessly don't care. I can change opinions when I see that I'm wrong.
What he did was obviously art, but it's still a dick move. Keying someone's car is also art but it's also stupid.
the art of being a dickhead :v:
While what he did could be considered art, and Picasso himself might have agreed with his action, Picasso is not exactly around for us to ask him what he thinks, so don't tag up his damn painting.
I respect art, which is why I can respect the artistic sentiment behind this act of vandalism.
but it's not legal to deface something owned by a museum. Would you like it if I took an enormous, partially green shit on your couch for "artistic sentiment"?
Ah goddamn I was late to the modern art argument
It's a billion times worse because its Picasso. You don't deface a picasso!
real artists don't respect art
I walked into an art school and said I don't respect art and vandalized art on display there, I was praised by the students and the staff
How can you claim someones art as a masterpiece?
~art~
Excellent! I especially love how you left the words 'Without remorse' uncovered.
Excellent! I especially love how you left the words 'Without remorse' uncovered.
Thank you good sir, I do believe it's my best work yet.
Idk to me its just lines and random shit. Just my opinion maybe im not cultured and smart enough to understand stuff like this
Yea, what the fuck? Art is supposed to represent something! This is absolutely disgraceful, just a bunch of shapes and lines that don't resemble anything!
picasso's art had a funny way of conveying dimension. Try to imagine it from different perspectives simultaneously.
A facepunch thread concerning modern art is always a funny read for the discerning art enthusiast.
