• Ubisoft warns players not to trust early reviews of The Crew
I don't think anybody's going to be able to take Ubisoft seriously after this year.
I find it so interesting how the tides have turned from EA and Ubisoft in just one year. EA has actually been listening to criticism; Ubisoft on the other hand seem to be making it easier to vote them as the golden poo award winners :v:
If the reviews were actually about the small beta previews from people who hadn't played the game, this would be reasonable, but this is after launch. Why would the press base their reviews on the beta preview when they can just, you know, go play the game?
you act like press are motivated by the good will of "informing people well" instead of just getting their article out first to scoop up the most ad revenue on the hot new title launching soon that everybody's going to want to google up really a lot of games suffer from shitty smalltime press and youtube LPers putting out awful 'early access reviews', going in uninformed about the game and complaining the whole way through about anything they can find. This sounds inconsequential, but when you search for the game on youtube and the few popular videos are just LPers with a big subscriber base and beta access, things can get pretty skewed pretty fast, especially when judgemental gaming communities want to use biased/awfully informed reviews to back up their arguments.
Lets just go through some of the things The Crew has: DRM, check. Season pass, check. Microtransactions, check. Mm, oh no Ubisoft. Things aren't looking that good for you, even before reviewers are reviewing your game! It's a shame, driving across the US in some amazing cars would have been quite cool when done right. Sadly I think they fucked it up beyond repair.
At least EA knew when to rudder back and make up to the fans.
nice now i can tell that kid who i accidentally said i would play this game with that i'm not buying it for moral reasons, thank god i wasn't even interested in it anyways
I was looking through the steam store this morning, wish-listing things in preparation for the Christmas sale, and I clicked on the crew, cause it looked good and I've been looking for another solid driving game again (I had a lot of fun playing GRID). I watched the trailer, and as soon as I saw the Ubisoft logo, I was very disappointed because I knew that I just fell for the pretty marketing. Watching the trailer didn't help because you don't get to see the most important part of any driving game: the physics.
I preordered this because I loved the beta, I had a shit load fun just roaming around, and the missions kept me interested. I want to get a refund but I also don't!! The other thing is I don't really trust polygon's opinions.
I think that's what Ubisoft is betting on.
I've never trusted this game.

Can anyone explain how I refund this on steam?
eeerrrr I was planning on preordering this, but only because I thought the preorder 'limited edition' had the Mini Cooper exclusive. Anyone care to chime in and help me out?
"Guys please don't read early reviews because our game is absolute shite, we haven't set up our bribe-plans with the big reviewers yet so wait till you see their 9/10's come out."
It's true, you fucking sheep, jesus. Go ahead and keep buying their overpriced hunk of crap games and watch how further the gaming industry falls.

The last game that pulled this shit was Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric :v:
Can anyone explain how I refund this on steam?
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8360-WEJC-2625&l=English#refund
As with most software products, unless required by local law, we do not offer refunds or exchanges on games, DLC or in-game items purchased on our website or through the Steam Client. Please review Section 3 of the Steam Subscriber Agreement for more information. Steam Subscriber Agreement An exception is made for games purchased during a pre-order period if the request is received prior to the games' release date.
So, you're going to go to https://support.steampowered.com/ and submit a ticket requesting a refund. If they don't get to your ticket before The Crew is released and it unlocks on your account, do not install it.
I thought you got refund from pre orders quickly as going into steam store then account detail and there just clicking something once.
eeerrrr I was planning on preordering this, but only because I thought the preorder 'limited edition' had the Mini Cooper exclusive. Anyone care to chime in and help me out?
Just don't. Which will you feel more regret for: spending $60 (or so) on a trash game at release, or missing one car later (if it turns out to be okay)?
I thought you got refund from pre orders quickly as going into steam store then account detail and there just clicking something once.
I know I've been able to cancel pending transactions that way because I bought FFXIV on sale, and I guess they ran out of keys or something, because the transaction sat at pending and stopped me from buying anything else on the store, but that was before the sale had even completed and billed me. I haven't seen it for preorders, though.
I'm sorry but what the hell would be the "optimal conditions" that would me lead me to write a review that "reflects the finished game" other than playing the finished game? I understand that patches are a thing, but they basically said "The game's gonna be shit at launch, yooo fuck you"

It goes straight to your steam wallet.
Yes, you can refund pre-orders on steam whenever you want As long as it's before the game releases

One of the few ways this could have seemed more desperate was if they had actually said "pretty please with sugar on top". I also await poor player reception being blamed on reviews rather than Ubisoft admitting the game is bad.
The new Rainbow Six is gonna suck, isn't it :(

I've stood by the fact that Ubi were, and is, the worst company between themselves and EA. Even the bad stuff EA has done in the past doesn't even compare to the shit that Ubi's produced and said. This year has been pure gold in terms of Ubisoft's embarrasment
Looks like press will be getting access just a day earlier than everybody else without any kind of embargo. http://www.videogamer.com/ps4/the_crew/news/the_crew_servers_go_live_11am_gmt_monday.html
The Crew's servers will go live at 11:01am GMT next Monday, December 1, one day ahead of the game's release, Ubisoft has confirmed to VideoGamer.com. Once the servers are switched on, press will be free to begin playing the game and post their opinions. Ubisoft stresses that there will be no embargo on coverage.
the physics are worse than tdu2's physics which are very bad if you haven't played it

Communication towers, my anti-drug. I don't know if I'll be able to take Ubisoft seriously ever again.
Honestly do we even need reviews to tell us the game will be shit? Given past occurrences it's bound to be the case.
Fuck you Ubisoft, I wanted this game to be good so badly.
