It's a great film, doesn't feel like the usual disney film at all
Transformers is pretty good
China thinks transformers are good, nobody else cares anymore
I wasn't expecting much but I actually really enjoyed it. The message was a little blunt but it's a kids film so it's excusable.
With a name like "Zootopia" you'd expect all kinds of animals but no it's just land mammals. I just wonder what the hell happened to reptiles, birds and amphibians? Did the get banished underground or something?
what do you use for animal testing in a world of animals and don't forget about carnivores
what do you use for animal testing in a world of animals and don't forget about carnivores
The lead writer explained over twitter that carnivores eat fish, insect protein and plant based proteins.
what a truly horrifying and distopian future world
what do you use for animal testing in a world of animals and don't forget about carnivores
For anyone who ever asks this, season 2 of bojack horseman explains exactly where meat comes from in animal people worlds [Sp]chicken concentration camps, but it's OK because they're pumped full of hormones from birth to be unable to think[/sp]
what do you use for animal testing in a world of animals and don't forget about carnivores
Humans It was a pretty enjoyable movie, you could tell the artists and stuff where having fun when they made it
Got a pretty strong childlike sense of wonder from the scene when she first travels into Zootopia and you see all the different zones and environments that are going to turn up later in the movie
Was this that good of a movie? I've heard very little about it, only that furries are absolutely losing their shit over it.
I've almost exclusively heard junk like "oh great furries are gonna lose their shit over it" and "oh no disney's pandering to furries", like how do people forget this is disney's thing? It was a legitimately great disney flick. Surprisingly well written mystery plot that keeps you trying to figure out the answer as the characters progress through the events. Beyond that, it was a technical marvel for Disney Animation Studios on all fronts, from the quality of animation, to the power of the hyperion renderer and their new hair/fur algorithms.
Got a pretty strong childlike sense of wonder from the scene when she first travels into Zootopia and you see all the different zones and environments that are going to turn up later in the movie
that's something I'd love to look through a bit more when it releases to dvd and we get special features. A lot of the zone panoramics were done to show off a lot of work that was set aside, like gazelle was supposed to have a story arc through part of the movie and it all took place in a very intricate las vegas strip area in the sahara area. They cut it all but the team wanted to show their hard work off since it has a real history within the movie's universe, thus fodder for the train sequence. Unfortunately the loss of the story there makes gazelle feel really tacked on in the final version. (edit) another big part of gazelle that was lost was the reason she had tiger backup dancer dudes, there was originally this huge thing about predators having shock collars to make them safe around prey (like as a natural 'the way things are' in the city from the get-go), and she pulls a big political statement having them not wear collars for a show. Zootopia was legit one of my favorite Disney flicks in years and I wanna go see it again, its super good
Spoiler(?) [sp]when Judy's train enters zootopia, there was some giant tree with all the birds in it. It was only a brief few seconds. [/sp]
So what about the reptiles and amphibians?
So what about the reptiles and amphibians?
I made a note of looking for them but I couldn't see any.
So what about the reptiles and amphibians?
the non-technical reason given by the artists was ease of access for the audience. The animals were all chosen to keep to a general set who all have something in common and can visually fall into the same style, mammals. It would probably sour the racial tension concepts they have going if we go from 'everybody's just different types of fuzzy animal, just some have different instincts' to 'holy fuck it's a crocodile don't go near it bunny' if you want more technical nonsense about what work went into the animal process, they spent 18 months doing pre-productions studies of a lot of animals, wittling it down to the 64 animal to feature in the movie, coming up with tons of conceptual work and letting the story of the movie build itself out of what problems all these animals might have if they were living together in new york Besides, imagine standing a crocodile next to the other characters in that pseudorealistic 3D style, it probably wouldn't go over as well as the flat cartooning of robin hood [t]http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111125192225/disney/images/f/fa/Robin-hood-disneyscreencaps_com-8938.jpg[/t] as for 'canon' reasons we didn't see others, you could argue we just never visited their areas. Like the birds in the rainforest you could guess there's lots of amphibians out there too, even an entire town like Little Rodentia, but due to the story you only ever visit a house and a little cable car in the rainforest. as for the fish [t]https://alienationmentale.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/shark-tales.jpg[/t] Really it did lay groundwork for an open ended story world, you can bet there will be a zootopia 2, maybe even a cartoon spinoff down the line, and there's already a ton of little comics being put out. You bet there's more than what you saw. It expanded on the ideas of the old robin hood and formed a bridged timeline that's probably opening the door for a very long-running franchise
Really it did lay groundwork for an open ended story world, you can bet there will be a zootopia 2, maybe even a cartoon spinoff down the line.
I hope they do, they put far too much effort into the world for it to be limited to just one movie. A spin-off TV series would be pretty cool tho.

According to them, the other animals exist in the world as well.
Ahh it was an awesome movie. I saw it twice. Can't wait to see it again
You can't argue with figures
Jack and Jill made $149,674,388, just sayin (zootopia was a good movie though)

As much as I want another Zootopia movie, they'd inevitably name it Zootwopia. The risk isn't worth it
As much as I want another Zootopia movie, they'd inevitably name it Zootwopia. The risk isn't worth it
Twotopia
This particular city in-world is mammals only, the directors wanted to emphasize the prey/predator theme, hence the decision. According to them, the other animals exist in the world as well.
I believe canonically, the artists explained that each type of animal (birds, reptiles, mammals, etc) each have their own specific environmental needs, so they don't necessarily live with each other. Which is a pretty rational explanation. I would like them to touch on this in the sequel if it does get one, which I feel is inevitable. 2 Fast 2 Topia
You can't argue with figures
Counter point: Transformers 4 has made over $1 billion
that sounds more like people reacting to a lovable flamboyant chubby gayboy rather than being ecstatic he's a furry????
Yeah, but the stereotype is furries == gay.
