your comment is just regurgitated information with a comment that doesn't even come from a logical analysis of the story. Knives are just fucking useful to have. A soccer player who is 10 years older is pretty much guaranteed to be bigger and buffer than the ref. He was being attacked and used a tool he had to defend himself.
You act like he brought a knife expecting to shank somebody which is just plain dumb.
you dont bring a knife to a fucking amateur soccer game is my point
useful to have or not what else would he be expecting to use it for in there?
Well...
I used to call "football" soccer in front of diehard fans for kicks...
Not any more I'm not.

You don't fucking get it you don't bring a pocket knife or a swiss army knife or a gun or anything expecting to use it.
If you're focusing on why he had the god damned knife you need to get your priorities in order
This all could have been prevented if only they had taken the proper precautions;

Wait wait wait. Why exactly did the Ref stab someone in the first place? I can't find it mentioned. I think this could be far out of perspective.
Santos Abreu is believed to have argued and then struck the referee after being unhappy with a decision.
Thanks
Then it was completely self-defense from some bratty soccer player who's like, three times his size and probably far stronger.

I know that football is one of the biggest sports in the world but what the fuck
ah my country being fucked up again, not one bit surprised about people killing a referee around here, i'm surprised about people putting his head on a fucking spike through.
also this happened in maranhão, one of the worst states if not the worst :suicide:
it's the poorest state

You're not helping.
And I thought the American Football Fans were nutty.
On a more serious note, I hope the people who did this get what they deserve in the end because this was just fucking over-retaliation, they better hope that the local government doesn't consider banning amateur football after this.

Holy shit that looks fun
So... when did Football become a blood sport, I sort of missed the announcement for that.
dont do the crime if you cant do the beating to death beheading arms and legs chopped off head stuck on a stick
The whole thing was pretty irrational from start to finish.
You're not helping.
I seriously doubt any of the posts here can help.
Unless there is a button I missed some where that reads "stop all international stereotyping" or the other one that toggles between "Stab Player", "Rip Ref Apart", and "Play Nice".
Oh yeah, those buttons are in the most primitive part of the brain... that thing that's stimulated by things like sensationalist headlines (and kicking soccer balls, it seems.) I'd say that even having an area dedicated to tossing things like this around isn't helping. How are the words and feelings of folks around the world going to help prevent violent behavior at a soccer match? Not at all. I think it may have started as a nice idea to stay aware of global things and identifying the spin in headlines and reporting. But seeing all the banal funnies and such that surround stories about folks being mutilated.. I think ya'll just do it for laughs.
That helps a lot.
... did it again.. more stupid.
I wouldn't mind if I were more eloquent, or had a point.
I'll just go away. I always feel dirty after coming here anyway.
Bad decision on my part.
That's fucked up.
Also it reminds me of that ame similar to football played by the Aztecs where the team that lost was sacrificed.

and the winning team was allowed free reign to rob the crowd of valuables
referee carrying round a knife haha? Even millwall and palace couldnt make this up the dirty cunts.!
Got to question the mental state of those that went and cut his head off, lunatics, but the ref cant really have any complaints, he took a life, doesnt deserve his.
Oh...
and i though Serbs were insane when it comes to this

Because he stabbed a player after the player attacked him?

Granted, yes the guy died, and he's not an innocent angel, but holy shit.
Football seems to be a pretty fucking big deal in South America
Football seems to be a pretty fucking big deal in South America
Football has a reputation. It brings the world together -- so they can form hooligan armies and cause riots and beat up random people while fueled by their blind rage. Seriously. The game itself is demanding. It requires a level of tactical thinking and teamwork above the capacity of the average person, but looking past that... football has caused little aside from riots, deaths, killings and pure, white-hot rage in people. The fanaticism could use a little pressure release. That's just my perspective. The football "fans" I've ever met in my life have all gone crazy on the field. "Gentlemen's game" is the last thing on anyone's mind. That and the very last game I was in I lost my hallux nail to a couple of raging, mindless gorillas sprinting at me full-force, screaming in hopes of me jumping aside. I did pretty well though, considering the collision fucked up one guy's knee.
tl;dr football is shit. (and it's not soccer, where the hell did some people get the idea of calling it soccer)

It's commonly known that Eastern European fans are absolute nutters tho. And Football isn't above the average person lol, it's the most accessible sport in the world because it's so simple to play.

um
He shouldn't have lost his head over being slapped.
So did they make it to the quarter-finals?
