You only have to signup if you don't have private insurance afaik
You're forced to signup if you don't have insurance, and you're also forced to signup if your current plan doesn't meet the minimum requirements set by the ACA. In the latter case, it can be one stupid item your policy doesn't cover and getting the same thing under the ACA has been reported to often cost people hundreds more.
I was one of the people that had to pay much more for a shitty ACA policy just because my old policy had the pre-existing conditions clause, which was banned.
Meanwhile, 60 million are still trying to register.
Good luck to them, because it's nearly impossible to get anything done on that fucking disaster of a website. You can literally be dicking with that website for more than three months and still not even get a working user account because their system is so horrible. I worked at a middle school last year that had kids that could design a fathoms better working system for less than 0.0001% of the cost and time.
The idiots in the government that thought up the system thought it would be a great idea to build it cold war style and have 20+ different companies with no leads all work on it at the same time, well this is what you get out of it.
This entire Healthcare plan is without a doubt the biggest pussy-foot in history. We need National Healthcare, not this little plan which can be easily beaten around to avoid the taxes incurred by it, not this stupid shit where only a few people get it, while others don't... No, we need to go back to the 1930's when we had several plans coming onboard regarding Healthcare, that would of ultimately benefited the United States in the long run.

It's pretty great actually because the hard working people get to pay for the lazy peoples healthcare!
I mean, what a great idea right?!
Woowee I'm just going to keep sitting here on the internet and collect my welfare and free healthcare!
Best fucking system ever.
I'm all for providing healthcare and welfare to the ones that need it, not to the ones who sit on their asses or druggies collecting from hardworking people. It's fucking infuriating. Trainspotting basically shows the whole situation.

My entire worldview is also based on what I see in movies as well.
meanwhile employers are slashing work hours to avoid Obamacare insurance mandate, big victory guys
all of you are rating winners while this is fucking so many people in the ass
Employers have always been doing that, regardless of the ACA.
I still have yet to sign up for health insurance, I have no idea where to go because I've been unemployed since november and barely have any money, last time I checked all of my options actually cost money, which I lack V:v:V
This whole system of "Sign up for health insurance or we'll fine your ass" is fucking retarded
thanks to obamacare I now have health insurance after 4 years due to it being too expensive
thanks obama
Meanwhile my plan doubled in cost and my deductible went from $300/yr to $2500/yr. But hey, at least I have prenatal.

The fine is toothless. It comes out of your tax refund. If you don't make enough money to be taxed then it will come out of future refunds. The language of the law expressly forbids government agencies from taking the fine from anywhere else.
There are also a bunch of exemptions. You should check out the website to inform yourself since you clearly don't know as much as you think you do.
