but I'm fine with Windows 8.1
I love Win10 on my laptop, but my desktop is reduced to an unbootable state if I install 10 and then try to update my video drivers. The only way to fix the issue was to revert to 7. I haven't really tried since launch, though, so maybe it's time I gave it another shot.
A bunch of work PCs ended up downloading the Windows 10 installer, including mine, regardless of the fact that we are joined to a domain. That being said, I'm really tempted to install Windows 10 just to see if it breaks anything. :v:
I don't see a problem unless you have something to hide...
OK, start streaming your desktop to the world 24/7 then since you have nothing to hide.
OK, start streaming your desktop to the world 24/7 then since you have nothing to hide.
Or alternatively turn that off with about 1 minute of work False dichotomies all up in this bitch
Man, they must have some pretty big spyware stuff going if they need people on Win10 this hard.
Or alternatively turn that off with about 1 minute of work False dichotomies all up in this bitch
I was replying to the mindset of "only people who have something to hide care about privacy", when no one would actually agree to have their entire life--or even their desktop--streamed 24/7 because everyone values their privacy to some degree.
My only complaint with 10 is that it's new settings screens are absolute oversimplified bullcrap, as are the errors.
I don't see a problem unless you have something to hide...
You don't need to have something to hide to want privacy. I don't have anything I care to hide but that doesn't mean I want everybody in the world going and digging through all my possessions. Why would I want a corporation digging through my computer which will often have sensitive files such as tax return information? It's literally none of their business in any way.
Are the issues regarding privacy still big on Win 10? Or are there ways to stop them from collecting info and stuff? I would like to upgrade but I do not like their policy regarding privacy one bit
My only complaint with 10 is that it's new settings screens are absolute oversimplified bullcrap, as are the errors.
The good news is, the OS from an administration standpoint is still exactly the same. So most of the control panels, utilities, and functionality is still all there. In fact, still unchanged from the Vista. It still uses the XP MS Management Console, which is pretty funny.

Though it's all enabled by default and disabling it means stuff like not being able to use Cortana.
why would a user with a data cap have automatic updates on?
To receive important updates and patches which usually don't take up that much bandwidth next to downloading a whole OS which is astronomically larger.
I suppose that's fair enough even today I see the XP effect. Just the other day I noticed a cash register at a store was using XP, I remember my dentists office running it, god knows how many factories still run it. XP is EVERYWHERE.
My ear doctor still runs MS-DOS on his machines.
I don't see a problem unless you have something to hide...
"if you have nothing to hide than you have nothing to fear" is the wrong line of thinking. We should not be spied upon in our own homes.
Upgraded to W10 from W8, never really looked back.
I love windows 10. Its a good os. Why give it bad press doing stuff like this?
have they rolled out fixes for it already? cause when i installed it in the second week, it seemed like my OS was falling apart, i started getting a bunch of weird bugs, so i rolled back to win7.

They announced it at 2015's /build conference for developers and no one cared until W10 came out.
I don't see a problem unless you have something to hide...
If you were in a house full of people, would you take a poop with the bathroom door wide open? It's a perfectly natural event and everyone does it, you've got nothing to hide....
Good thing I have that shit disabled then.
Is Telemetry the one where some news were saying about how Win10 would go through your files on the context of looking for illegal/pirated files or sending data back without your knowledge?

And it's only telemetry stuff to, you know, improve customer experience.
Gonna stay on 7 purely out of spite until something happens that requires my move on, just like I did with XP.
You sure showed them, how can they sleep at night knowing famed internet user doom14 is willingly not upgrading to win10
Good. Loads of people will just trail behind like they have with xp if they don't do this and anyone who doesn't want to upgrade can just turn off auto update
this is the point, and it's a valid enough reason to do it
I think it's also partly down to trying to get more people on the App Store to attract developers.
Hopefully they fix driver errors somehow before then. My W7 laptop got absolutely wrecked by an upgrade due to the fact that HP(shitty, shitty company) stopped hardware support for it.
Sure hope they fix their stupid upgrade system beforehand, else they're going to get a lot of complaints from people whose computers don't work at all anymore. Every time I've tried installing the upgrade, it gets stuck on the "setting up your apps" screen for hours. I think I left it for 12 fucking hours once. I would then get fed up and force the computer to restart, but if I did that then I would have absolutely no input after it restarted. I'd have to restore from backup, because the second the BIOS hands over control to windows all my input would be disabled.

Well it's a good thing I use a special Windows 8.1 that won't be able to upgrade to 10. Even if I use automatic updates.
I use Windows 10 at work and it's nice, still not quite sure if I want to upgrade from 8.1 at home though.
