is there precedent for an olympic venue being so unsafe that it gets relocated?? rio is clearly a massive shithole (no offense to any Rioites, you've just gotta be realistic) and should never have even been considered for the olympics
I hope ISIS doesn't come here to make the situation worse.
Rio already has their own set of terrorists there. Favela ganglords.
I heard the Russians athletes thrown huge party after the ban on theirs access to this year Olympic games was confirmed ... reason ? no dangers from Zika, no toxic water (trash everywhere) and health risks (superbacteria washed from rivers because hospitals/biochemistry got no sewerage plants) , no gazillion other life threatening issues btw. I heard somewhere that some of golf players training in there already got zika and thus many of the hi profile golf stars already cancelled
Are you sure they didn't intentionally get discovered to avoid the olympics?
Hopefully no, but probably yes.
On the plus side, there are already four different vaccines for it undergoing testing, at least one of which is in human trials, according to a report I heard on NPR. Zika will be effectively eliminated within the next few years. New technology allowed them to whip this shit up in record time.
that just opens up a 2024 olympics in hell
That'd be 1.) pretty fucking metal and 2.) still better than Rio
Are you sure they didn't intentionally get discovered to avoid the olympics?
If they really don't want to go, surely they just don't go? Afaik there was no legal compulsion for them to go before the doping-related ban.
