Oh man those greedy fucks how dare they want money for there hard work I deserve everything for free!!! Pirates can go rot in some kind of consumer hell.
Piracy allows people to try games that don't have a demo. It allows you to see how well the game runs on your system before buying. It also allows you access to any games you may have lost the cd-key for. I plan on buying every game I've ever pirated and enjoyed. (Already bought some actually) Piracy does hurt sales but their numbers are grossly exaggerated to make the problem look worse. Besides they make enough god damn money anyways millions of people buy their games at $50 a pop The game industry makes as much as the film industry now. They got a little boo boo and their crying about it like a 2 year old. [editline]26th January 2011[/editline] Can't they just be happy that people are playing their games?
And 3:1 of those were pirated copies of Modern Warfare 2, since it wasn't good enough to actually buy for 59.99 a year after it's initial release.
Here's an idea: make games worth buying
While the price is not the main reason, it is one of the reasons. A lot less people would pirate if games were cheaper. There are many reasons why different people pirate. Some do it because of price, some do because of drm, some do because they can. What game companies should do: 1. Make games cheaper, gain more sales 2. Remove shitty drm, gain even more sales 3. Make games easier available to people, don't lock it down Do that and there you go, much less pirates and more happy customers.
Where are your sources backing this assertion up?
So, there's suddenly money going to those who share games online? What?
Yeah, I actually pirate games and then send the full RRP to the pirating group. (!)
And yet they still manage to break sales and profit records every year. I fail to feel any kind of sympathy for the publishers.
Im dirt poor and I buy my games. Not to say piracy is evil but if you are a true gamer you will be buying most of my games.
if you are a true gamer you don't go blindly into the store picking the first game you recall from the latest commercial with explosions.
true but what does that have to do with pirating games?
So does loaning and burning stuff onto disks and handing them out to your friends however you never see any controversy about that
Where were you during the late 80's and early-mid 90's? Oh wait:smug:
