what is superhuman about this do i need to put emphasis on things to clear it up "for me, driving while talking on a phone does not distract me or affect my capabilities at all."
im not arguing that it wouldn't affect me in special circumstances such as finding myself in eminent danger, i'm arguing that it is not a distraction during routine driving
It's people like you that make the roads dangerous hellholes.
What a fucking hero, that guy needs a fucking medal.
Not having to pay for the insurance is awesome in my opinion.
I bet DOG-GY is also one of those people that think they drive better when drunk.
It's people like you that make the roads dangerous hellholes.
the only problem i've ever had while driving was a crash due to my brakes giving out and not being able to stop
i signal at every turn, obey all traffic laws, stay within the typically granted 10mph/10% leeway of the speed limit, speed up/slow down/stop at reasonable rates, don't drive aggressively but defensively, give way to those who want to drive faster, never have had road rage, don't follow too closely, never cause blockage or congestion.
i cannot fathom how you're judging my driving based off nothing but a post but you're way off mate. i shouldn't even have to defend my driving this is useless
Anyone who thinks they can drive on the phone just needs to watch this.
I'm talking about over the speed limit, as in dangerously over. And no, I usually use my loudspeaker or stop somewhere if it's that urgent.
Oh, and believe me - when something happens you need BOTH your hands to be available.
Uhh, no, you do not.

If he can do that the average driver should be able to handle a normal car at normal speeds on normal roads with one hand no problem. If you need more than that there's something wrong.
I bet DOG-GY is also one of those people that think they drive better when drunk.
I don't drink and I especially don't drink drive. Don't assume shit like this.

"I can drive perfectly well while on the phone, except in situations when making the right decisions fast could save lives including my own. But it's not like it can happen or anything."

wow i wondered how long this would go until someone tried to use a strawman fallacy against me

your stupidity knows no limits
please do everyone a favor and never drive a car ever again

this is pathetic and going nowhere thanks for making sure i understand you're incapable of rational argument.

it's funny because this fits your description perfectly
Please don't tell me it was an H1..
H1's stopped production in 2006. It'd be worth around 150,000 dollars if it were.
it's funny because this fits your description perfectly
except that all i've gotten is the assertion that i'm wrong on an anecdote and wild claims that don't fit what i've actually said.
YOLO
you have a decent car
i've been in cars doing turns at 60-80, of course on country roads with no one around and a very experienced driver.
I wonder sometimes if it's TOO easy to get a drivers license
It is. Today in class I overheard this chick talking about taking the online road test and drug safety test for someone else since they didn't feel like reading it.
I heard her say she "must have done it at least 10 times".
Apologies for the late reply.
literally nobody has presented anything of relevance other than that there's a higher relative risk for drivers who talk on cell phones, which I agreed with from the start. i don't think anybody is understanding what im saying and jumping to huge conclusions. a rational argument is leagues off of what i'm mostly seeing: "holy fuck you're an awful driver you should not own a license" despite my driving record being pretty clear opposition to that viewpoint

all you've done is make wild claims about performing some sort of multitasking not possible for humans

please read some papers on human multitasking because so far you've shown that you know next to nothing about it

i have read papers on human multitasking thanks
I figured this was highly relevant to the argument.
This is the single most hypocritical sentence I've read on Facepunch.
How can you guys be so pro-rehabilitation and against the death sentence, yet you're so quick to revoke somebody's license? Granted they're almost two completely different thing but the point still stands.
"This guy should have his life stripped from him and have no chance of getting out of it"
There's so many other ways to fix this issue than just flat out degrade the ability for another man to get around, install a speedometer or limit his speed to 30 MPH and disallow access to freeways or something.
Because there is a massive difference between being anti-death sentence and wanting to remove the ability to drive legally from a shit driver.
what if the person is using a bluetooth headset
A Hummer-driving hero? Defying the stereotypes
Hmm
one Canadian man
Ah.
what if the person is using a bluetooth headset
Personally that doesn't make me trust them any more than someone holding their phone to their ear. Though others would disagree with me on that.
im not arguing that relative risk doesn't increase. if it gets the point across better then this might clear what im trying to say up: i see no difference in my driving with hands-free versus holding a phone to my ear versus talking to a passenger.

Until you get in the situation where you are just about to hang up, look at the phone and in that very moment a car pops up from the side of the road.
Until you get in the situation where you are just about to hang up, look at the phone and in that very moment a car pops up from the side of the road.
i dont look at my phone to hang up. i wait for the other caller to end it or i just press the end button from muscle memory.
i do not need to look at my phone to use it to make calls, it's all voice commands and muscle memory.
what if the person is using a bluetooth headset
You'd be just as distracted. The brain is not designed for concentrating on more than one thing at a time.
You'd be just as distracted. The brain is not designed for concentrating on more than one thing at a time.
so according to this speaking and driving should be outright illegal as well as adjusting anything not necessary to the driving of your vehicle (ac/radio/etc)
