Windows flag switches to Metro style for a 'reimagined' Windows 8
Oh noooooo, they changed the logo. This certainly means that Microsoft, of all companies, doesn't know what they are doing. How can this operating system be any good?!?
I'll never understand why you people are so damn bitter about these changes. You make no sense. Microsoft isn't going to ruin their product, they can't afford to. Go ahead and stick with 7 for the next 8-10 years, the rest of us will look at you like you look at XP users now. Outdated and afraid of change.
Bet you though Vista was a great OS.
That looks nowhere near the traditional reputation logo, and it's ugly
Why would they do this. They're changing everything Windows is known for (not that every change is bad). Changes should be either because the original was shit, people are asking for change or the change is beneficial. Not simply for the hell of it.
"Okay guys, lets make the iconic windows logo THIS!"
"But it looks boring."
"Shut up you're fired."
What's with everyone needing to make "modernized" logos(a.k.a. bland and boring), they all look shitty. Does the future really need to involve less creativity? :suicide:

Vista was a good OS after the release of the service packs. I wouldn't mind still being on Vista, but with a new and more efficient operating system out, I am certainly going to upgrade. When 8 comes out, I'll use it.

I was unaware that the previous logo was such a bastion of creativity.
I like it, what's wrong with it?
Bring back Bill Gates
or that creating a new logo is somehow less creative
I really hope that behind all these horrid UI choices Windows 8 is a really solid operating system. If its not I can see myself sticking with Windows 7, which is would be odd. I have always been an early adopter of Microsoft products (Using XP when everyone said it sucked, used Vista during that entire time everyone thought it sucked).
I have no strong feelings whatsoever regarding this. It's just a logo.
The new logo is flat, boring, monochromatic and ditches the logo that was improved upon for pretty much every Windows release since 3.1.
That's almost 20 years of the same basic logo. By throwing out the logo, they're effectively severing their ties with the past. Everyone recognized the old logo and combined with the "orb" that it's usually drawn in, it's more aesthetically appealing (opinion.)
It's just... boring. I prefer imagination over simplistic design any day.

Same for music, see what they did to music with their fancy ass shit?

Oh look, another dumbfuck who insists everything was better 20 years ago.
I think it's much less recognizable than the old logo. I think they were going for something sleek, simple and futuristic, but went too far. The windows flag at its core was already simple enough and you could bend and play with it and people would still recognize it.
But ultimately the product counts. Tho I don't think it looks much better. They seem to be trading user-friendliness and clarity for design at a couple of very crucial points.
It's meh but it should be

The thing about Windows is that the windows logo was all about creativity and innovation, and I feel that the old windows logo captures that feeling much better than this one.

This reminds me of Google more than it reminds me of Windows.
wow that's really dumb
the windows flag is an iconic brand
And also a liability due to the anti-MS sentiment that has been growing over the past 5 years or so.
But still, hideous logo
Come to think of it, I can't think of any reason I would want to buy Windows 8 and plenty of reasons I would avoid it
You have not been following Windows 8 development then.
Most people in the beta already can't go back to 7.
If I have to use a computer with this cack installed I think I know it's being thrown out of.
And exactly why is this a big deal?
Funny how as critics/previewers are in love with Windows 8 and praising (most) new things about it, people who never used it or just read out of context blog shit hate it.
I wonder why
Fun Fact: Windows 8 has pretty much all the features the Linux fanboys always list as their reason for preferring it, other than price and open source of course.

I take that as a hint that people should be using Linux instead.

Wait, doesn't that mean that Linux has pretty much all the features Windows 8 has but for free?
wait so why is win 8 shaping up to be bad?

They're basically taking out all the good and recognizable parts of windows and dumbing down the entire OS to make it "tablet friendly"
