Windows flag switches to Metro style for a 'reimagined' Windows 8

It's ugly and not quite as charming, but it's not the end of the world. The removal of the start menu bothers me more. What was the reasoning behind that?
They're basically taking out all the good and recognizable parts of windows and dumbing down the entire OS to make it "tablet friendly"
i mean thats p vague, i'd like some examples
i havent really kept up on this very much but from everything i've seen none of these great features are gone
I take that as a hint that people should be using Linux instead.
You have obviously seen how volatile Linux Lobbyists can be on forums
Heck if you have ever seen the comments on status by pages who so much as MENTION Windows, the entire comments sections turns to shit. Only on Facebook there actually Mac fans for once.
Wait, doesn't that mean that Linux has pretty much all the features Windows 8 has but for free?
Well that goes back to the whole "do you PC game?" question. Linux has always been fine for web browsing, programming, and whatever other software you can get running on Linux.

I'm sure they'll change it back if the internet complains hard enough. I can't imagine how retarded that logo would look on the taskbar.

Remember, they removed the start button.
Because it's an iconic logo that's been around for 20 years, everyone recognizes it, it's almost like if Disney killed off Micky Mouse and replaced him with a box of shit, it's a meaningless change and only hurts the company.
I would argue that almost nobody uses Windows because they actually like it.
Most people use Windows because other people use Windows. They don't have any brand loyalty beyond that. And they sure as shit don't care about the logo.
I always thought the "flag" was a window v:v:v
I kind of agree that they needed to get away from the rainbow theme. But that box doesn't have much thought put into it.
On the other hand, I don't see the big deal, it's not like they changed their logo to a turd.

That's what it originally was, but "wavy"
Did all of you miss the part of the article that says that image is a mock up?
They're basically taking out all the good and recognizable parts of windows and dumbing down the entire OS to make it "tablet friendly"
No, they really aren't. If you actually bothered to use Windows 8 or read about it past sensationalist articles posted on facepunch you would know that.
Did all of you miss the part of the article that says that image is a mock up?
Been the same for last 15 years?

Bitch please.
That mock-up reminds me of the Windows 1.0 Logo.:v:

We all know how the Microsoft cycle works: after releasing a great product, they'll try "new and innovative" things that will make the successor look and perform like shit. Sales will be scarce but Win 7 ones will skyrocket, and they'll learn from their mistakes and release a better OS after a while.
It's always worked like this.
I'll skip that one.
Windows 9 - Following this, get.
Windows 8 - Skip
Windows 7 - Get
Windows Vista - Skip
Windows XP - Get

Are you saying that they purposely making their product junk so they can boost sales of a older product?

That looks like a dictionary title or something :v:
Hi. I just game in here to say that the people who redesigned this bland logo are not the same people who are programing our precious software. Window's OS programmers may hate the new logo, they have no say in it. Shitty branding doesn't change the product.

No but it dissuades people from buying it
At least leave the color in.

It'd be more like if Disney changed a logo. Companies change things like this all the time.

is much better than this new nonsense.

Atleast it's a renewed design, yet you can still see the similarities with the old ones.
