The Hipster cafe: The London 'Anti-Cafe' Where Everything Is Free But You Pay 5 Cents A Minute Just

Hipster is such a buzzword now-a-days. Looks pretty cozy, but the decor could probably do with some work. It's certainly in the right part of London to thrive in
I just.. get this unshakable feeling that I want to kick everyones ass I see in there.
no it's 5 cents a minute. what are you trying to say here?
"Oh! it is 5 cents per minute but it is also 3p per minute" help
Because a.) the article said 3p a minute b.) it's fucking britain we don't use cents

wow i'm scared
This is a great idea. Obviously they can adjust the flat rate as the buisness progresses in London based on the influx of customers. Besides that, I can't really find a fault. Facepunch I love you to death but sometimes i feel like you all are the real "hipsters". This is an amazing idea and would be great for so many different type of customers and to top it off would be a great place to meet people and just Hang out, yet you still find ways to blindly knock it. Kinda weird in my opinion but then again maybe I'm not well opinionated. Anyways, hopefully next time I'm in London I can have some time to go check it out! Would love to talk to the owner.

you're being more rational than almost anyone else in this thread, so i wouldn't say so

buzzword is a buzzword
It seems the idea has potential if it took off so well in Russia. I just think the place would look nicer if there was a wee bit more uniformity to the tables and chairs.
Couldn't you just go in, ask for every snack that don't require cooking and leave before the minute?
~ive been an over tired foool~
No fuckin shit but that doesn't change the fact that 3p =/= 5 cents
If that's even what you're saying because this sentence;
"Oh it is 5 cents, but 3p per minute, well that's not so bad"
makes no goddamn sense
5 cents is 3p, go check the exchange rate if you don't believe me
I don't understand why you're so angry and it's scaring me
Did they find all their furniture in the trash?
I find it very confusing that the place is in london, but the op has decided to use cents for pricing.
pffft well, Yeah, alternative currency is pretty IN right now, you know?, you still using pennies and pounds?, i guess i don't blame you, the trend is still pretty underground.
hhheheh
-snip- srry carcargo
That's $3 an hour?... how are they staying in business?
The lighting bugs me more than the decor, nothing makes me think of relaxing indie cafe atmosphere faster than bright and artificial white lights that give me flashbacks of school and workplaces.
Everything in that cafe better be obscure if I'm going to be paying per minute. Especially the coffee.

It's so obscure, they just blindfold you when you walk through the door.

I'm sure they're gonna implement a limit of some description.
I don't think folk here realise it's a Russian cafe. Time to re-evaluate your tactics...
Why would I want to go to a place that has an incentive to serve me slowly
if it was a cool place to be in then it'd be a cool concept, but it just looks boring
I've been to a place that was like this in another city. It was really cool actually, because you had everyone from street bums to suits in there, talking and playing games. It was so cheap people had no reason not to stick around, and the business didn't really care what you were doing - as long as you weren't a total nuisance - so people would often bring their own board/card games and play for a few hours, drinking coffee and eating light snacks.
There was very little abuse that I saw. I must say I was pleasantly surprised.
Wish they had one like this nearby. Wouldn't mind giving it a shot with a few friends.
I like it how you can tell he is even using a camera from the 70s with a shitty exposure and even shittier image quality
I like the idea but the actual place doesn't look eye pleasing to me.
Seems like the kind of place that you could sit at for a while and just read a book and sip on some coffee.
Honestly FP is more Hipster then most hipsters considering the violent prosecution of popular culture that seems to permeate the forums.

the exposure in those images is fine, and that shitty image quality is just lomo. fad or not, it's purposely like that
