You're horrible at statistics too. How do you know that all those stupid people aren't in other countries? You're just an idiot.
well then, you tell me how so many people can get duped
also, i'm just using worldwide statistics, believe it or not, USA does not house 5 billion people
You can't prove 100% that God doesn't exists, but that doesn't mean it's anywhere near probable.
Why is it not probable? What statistical evidence are you basing your probability on?
well then, you tell me how so many people can get duped
For new page.
I'd like to hear what people think about this "Philosophy"
I agree dawg
Because pragmatic is the kind of logic designed to maximize effectiveness of conclusions to issues that affect the world and is in fact based on assumptions because those assumptions generally work in a secular issue, whereas whether or not god exists is much more theological and assumptions simply cannot be made.
I do like that quote and agree. The definition of what makes a god a god is a big issue. And that's why there are multiple possibilities, and it is not simply binary.
I can agree, however, philosophy will never find a definite answer for the existence of God.
As soon as God is proven, everyone will believe, however, he hasn't been proven in ever, not in his thousands of years of conceived existence.
Don't you feel it's time to move on?
4-5 billion people are stupid eh?
guess that means 4-5/6 people you've met are dumb then
Well, think back thousand years ago.
Nobody had a fucking clue what the bright thing in the sky was?
What even is the sky?
Where does it end?
Oh my friend just stopped breathing, what happened to him, where did he go?
See what I'm getting at, people didn't have a clue back then.
So they decided to write and speak about things to give people an idea what was happening (Religions).
Down the generations, these beliefs have been passed, and made different, like Chinese Whispers.
So it was kind of just a part of life to be taught about this, and believe it.
But in recent years people has discovered new things, disproving the ideas of religion.
Which may explain the sudden growth in people straying from religion?
Just because people the majority of people on Earth think religion is right, does not mean it is, it's just that less curious people just go along with it, to keep them happy.
The government is a creation of man, your born with the ability to do all of those things, you chose not to do them because you don't want to get raped in prison, or because you simply don't want to do them.
Okay, but we still don't have free will do we?
On our own we do, but it's more effective to not have free will.

well, just keep waiting until judgement day, just as the bible says and stuff
the thing about this is, we can't be sure he exists until judgement day, and even if he isn't real, people will just keep waiting
it's a time issue

I don't think it's my place to tell people what to believe, even if I believe it's illogical. I do however feel it is my place to tell them not to bring their beliefs into something which affects me.
well then, you tell me how so many people can get duped

Okay. First off, let's address your statistics, 5/6 people I've met are stupid. Because 5 billion people believe in god. However, what if all of the god believers lived in a country different from mine. Anyway.
How can so many people get duped? God is a very natural explanation for something that they don't know how to explain, that's how.

So earth was flat, then rounded out, blacks suddenly changed and became equal to whites, and all other widely held stereotypes are secretly true until overturned?

You can't disprove or prove he exists until a day that is claimed to happen at an unspecified date occurs.
So earth was flat, then rounded out, blacks suddenly changed and became equal to whites, and all other widely held stereotypes are secretly true until overturned?
Yes, absolutely. For example, most of Facepunch believes Archy is a giant gorilla mashing the keyboard so that's what he is
By the way I think I know more theists who reject organization than I know theists who actually go to church.
This is by far the fastest growing conversation I've seen on Facepunch.

Except blue laws.
A lot of religions are nothing short of chauvinistic fascism.
IE Islam. Women are expected to wear certain clothing, pre-arranged marriages, eye for an eye justice, Jiyza.

exactly, that's why these threads become flamebait
Your question in Layman's term is:
Where did mass come from?
And of course, let me add in - what set it in motion?
Time can not be infinite, since it's a term for the movement of mass - relativity. But at the same time it can.
These questions and the answers are beyond human logic. If we were told it's creation we would not understand nor comprehend it.
The delusion of "God" is people who cannot answer this question and want a simple answer.
My philosophy is;
It cannot be answered. It is an impossible question with an impossible answer due to the limits - restrictions if you will - of the human brain.
One last time for page 13.
exactly, that's why these threads become flamebait
But that's the point.
It's just optimists vs pessimists.
How can so many people get duped? God is a very natural explanation for something that they don't know how to explain, that's how.
so, why don't you tell me how all this stuff appeared, even before the big bang?
One last time for page 13.
I think it's silly that religion tells people that God is beyond their comprehension.
If that is true, how does organized religion work, are priests, bishops, and the pope above human?
But that's the point.

exactly
[editline]05:45PM[/editline]
go ahead, give me gaybows
all because of optimism. :smith:
I disagree, if there are 4 billion people following something, odds are they're right
This is the most fallible logic I've ever seen.
There's a reason certain misconceptions are common, direct democracy is impractical, and that science isn't about how many people support an idea over another.
A majority can be wrong.
Except blue laws.

One last time for page 13.
Okay, fine, I'll respond. Mass theoretically comes from the higgs. Time began at the big bang. The universe may have "always" (since time didn't exist... yeah) existed as a singularity, or perhaps it reforms into a singularity after a big crunch, and then goes through it all again. I think it can be answered, eventually.

We already slapped him silly for that comment.

Religion is based around "answers", with a side dash of corruption, power and force.
Everything about god is made in a branwash-y way, excuse the term.

don't get the rest of christianity into this, i believe this is an issue with the catholic church
