i don't think you can really tell someone whether they're christian or not, especially since you're coming from the perspective of an atheist
You easily can. There's a set definition. It's not some variable mix of things or an empty label.
Atheist corporations are more likely to be corrupt than Christian corporations.
If such things exist.
yeah, anyone who doesn't believe in God is a terrible person and immoral!!

you can't just shove them under the label of christian, there are tonnes of different views on what jesus said, i mean, look at protestant vs. catholic
it just doesnt pay justice to shove someone under the label of christian and call it a day

Christian = someone who follows the Bible, New Testament but acknowledges the Old Testament.
It doesn't mean picking and choosing between passages and pieces.
I'm watching this conversation here, and it seems even the Christians don't get it.
There is a major assumption here that Christians, according to their religion, are supposed to be moral and promote a moral society. Dude, everyone tries to be moral in their own way. True Christianity is the acceptance of the forgiveness of Jesus Christ for all your sins. The fact that no human is truly capable of morality (even Christians) is a big topic in the Bible itself.
my point is, the Christian church should not be expected to be synonymous with morality anymore than any other social group in the world. they try, but of course they fail to be moral because there is no human that is truly moral

I consider a Christian to be anyone who believes Jesus Christ to have been the son of god, and the bible to be the word of god.

Not really.
Not really.
yes, really - if you're speaking in terms of the Bible's definition of what makes a Christian, and not a Christian's definition of what makes a Christian.
I consider a Christian to be anyone who believes Jesus Christ to have been the son of god, and the bible to be the word of god.
More or less the same thing isn't it?
More or less the same thing isn't it?
Since you're asking...
By taking all related Biblical passages into account, a Christian being defined as one who "believes Jesus was the son of God, and the Bible is the word of God" is incomplete and an inappropriate answer to the question "what makes a Christian".
According to the Word (not church doctrine or what your "Christian" friend at school told you), someone is only a Christian if they have been "born again", thus attaining Salvation (that is, they are destined to go to Heaven in the afterlife as opposed to spending eternity in Hell). Being "born again" means you have placed faith in Jesus Christ - the Son of God (also, simultaneously, God himself in human form) for the forgiveness of your sins in order to attain "righteousness" (only the righteous can go to Heaven, but no human is righteous by nature and so he needs to have his sins miraculously forgiven through Jesus' blood sacrifice on the cross, later rising from the grave). Furthermore, you must live a life guided by the Holy Spirit (God's conscious influence in your behavior and thoughts) and so you must recieve it in order to be led gradually to a life of repentance from your sinful actions as a second component to achieving salvation.
You can receive both Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit through prayer.
That's an evangelical you just described
no, its just the Bible definition. im protestant, so i dont know anything about evangelical doctrine, but if it matches what i described, then it matches the Bible.

You do realize that when I said a Christian is someone who "believes jesus to be the son of god, and the bible to be the word of god", it kind of implied that a Christian is someone who follows what the bible says.
So you're arguing with me without actually disagreeing.
lol, keep telling yourself that, even on the way down the shit-tunnel to hell after your dead
hell doesn't exist, i thought you were joking at first; that's just terrible what you just said..
