I thought it was your christian duty to try and save me I'm attempting to trap you now you see
Hey if God wants more than just believing in him he can blow me. It already took quite a bit of effort to take the mental plunge to believe in him.
Watching the British police arrest the Pope on the news would be like porn.
Watching the British police arrest the Pope on the news would be like porn.
Haven't seen you in a while.
Watching the British police arrest the Pope on the news would be like porn.
Should I say "Welcome back" or "Nice of you to drop by again"?

I come back to this thread after like 2 days. What the fuck has happened? Religion and FP don't mix.
Religion and the internet don't work. Notice how also Thunderf00t is a middle-aged, highly educated man with an awesome accent, @
It seems to me that all religious activists are uneducated people, terrorist or similar. All atheist activists are highly educated middle-aged men with awesome accents. It's just a stereotype, I know... but :iia:

As far as irrational thinking doing more bad things than good things, I think that is entirerly and debatable. I'm not saying this as a Christian, as I myself am agnostic. But all throughout history you have people that do things that are not very rational at all, or make very much sense but the world is better off for it.
I didn't say that. I said that the positives of rationality outweigh the positives of irrationality, and the negatives of irrationality outweigh negatives of rationality. Irrationality might provide some net benifit. However, in my view, rationality provides a greater net benefit, but as rationality increases, irrationality decreases. So yeah, we may lose some of the benefits of irrationality, but as a whole society we become better off.
Crime could be just another example. Even if more black people committed crimes than didn't, it wouldn't make the statement 'black people are bad' more valid or useful. I still don't believe that makes irrationality a bad thing, all it means is suicide bombing is a bad thing. My main point is by saying things like that you're limiting your view, which is a bad thing. Although I supposed we could get into an entire argument just on that too...
Crime is committed by every ethnic group. It would suggest that something other than ethnicity determines what causes crime. Many suggest it is poverty. There are more black people in poverty than other ethnic groups. Would it not be useful to say "Poverty is bad"? Since it is the cause of something that has such a negative impact. Poverty may have benefits, such as kids not being snotty or looking down their noses. However, I can't reduce crime significantly without reducing poverty, and if I reduce poverty, I lose the benefits. It is useful to generalise. Crime is a symptom of an underlying cause (poverty), just as Suicide bombing is a symptom of an underlying cause (irrationality). You cannot effectively lower the symptoms without reducing the cause. This may mean you lose some good things. I'm just being honest and stating this case. We can't stop suicide bombings without dethroning religion. We can't dethrone religion without reducing irrationality. There will be some collateral damage, but it is insignificant in comparison with the gains that we get. Therefore, we should treat irrationality as bad and seek to reduce it.
Except for all the supernatural stuff
Was that even being debated
Religion and the internet don't work. It's like the racist at the 1 million man march. But he is awesome.
i hope the pope wins
take him down, Take Him Down!, TAKE HIM DOWN!!!
yeah because being in army infantry makes you a pussy lol
the marines are a totally useless force kept alive by the military for the sole purpose of being cheap, motivated cannon fodder so the real soldiers in the army aren't being risked as much as they are far far far more valuable. [editline]04:39PM[/editline]
Good, we need a new pope. One that doesn't let priests get away with sexual abuses and actually does his job properly.
hes a sad old german WW2 vet, what do you expect from someone who is nothing more than the figurehead for an ashamed church turned business which he likely has little control over. This whole charade is childish outright.
hes a sad old german WW2 vet
Nazi Pope. No wonder he rapes kids.
:siren:NEWS FLASH:siren: Richard Dawkins did not say he is going to arrest or create a plan to have the pope arrested. He merely says he wholeheartedly supports the idea that a legal challenge should be mounted for his visit. http://richarddawkins.net/articles/5415

What the fuck is up with this thread, the pope is the only cool thing about christianity and you want him arrested and want to fuck yourself with a man who is a reactionary hyperbole machine on a religious jihad against religion.

Popes are literally the worst part about Christianity.
Fuck, I thought Richard Dawkins was gonna step up and be a BAMF, then he pussied out of it.
