That map is inaccurate, my country isn't even marked and we use the word football (or more like fussball) there.
stop playing flag football and play tackle football. after the first play i bet you're gonna go home crying with a broken arm and leg.
Have you ever watched Rugby? Breaking bones is a normal occurance, hell people have had their ears ripped off/to shreds, and in some cases people die.
Did you lose your sense of sarcasm on the way in?

He said everyone else calls it Football, I proved him wrong.

Lol that's why American football is better.
Hurr durr rugby should be called handball becuz they use a ball in ther hand.
He said everyone else calls it Football, I proved him wrong.
Except you didn't because I just said that the map is inaccurate.
Hurr durr rugby should be called handball becuz they use a ball in ther hand.
Actually handball is another separate sport
If we call football handegg I'm calling soccer povertyball.
I agree, these two sports are now both equally shamed, they are now handegg and povertyball. Be ashamed you Europeans!
Have you ever watched Rugby? Breaking bones is a normal occurance, hell people have had their ears ripped off/to shreds, and in some cases people die.
That is honestly pathetic. The only death in American Football I remember was a Chicago Bears game. It was some wide receiver.
I'd rather watch a nice game where I know most guys will be safe and not get too hurt.
Except you didn't because I just said that the map is inaccurate.

Just because it's missing countries doesn't mean it's inaccurate.

It doesn't show the entirety of the ''rest of the world'' therefore I wouldn't use it to prove anything since the guy said that the rest of the world uses the word football, not soccer.

stop poopin on my thread pretty boy.
Although isn't it weird that the US usually modernizes words (like colour = color) but now there's this guy using tradition in languages as a defense?

It's right, though. Canada, Australia, and the US all use Soccer mainly.
Because there dumb

This map sucks.
In Lithuania we say "futbolas" which is obviously just a variation of the word "football". In hebrew it's "kadurregel" which means "ball-foot". Obviously, a translation of football.
So yeah, this map sucks balls, shitload of nations use the word "football" or a variation of it.

How is subtracting a u modernizing it? It's changing it, but how does it make it modern? The reason it's called soccer here is because football refers to another sport that is way more popular.

Brazil sure as hell uses football (futebol) too.

Also that map comes from wikipedia, it's english speaking countries, not the world.

Jesus who gives a flying fuck about what country calls a sport.
Might as well argue why we drive on the parkway and park on the driveway.

Modernizing because it's used more often in the modern world. I don't know if I'm using the term right though.

It's just making the language a bit different.
Have you ever watched Rugby? Breaking bones is a normal occurance, hell people have had their ears ripped off/to shreds, and in some cases people die.
Wow, that sounds terrible.
Start-Stop Rugby with Padding
I don't think a SINGLE person playing rugby could take a hit from Reggie Bush, Thank good football players have pads because they take REALLY hard hits.

Here take another example, this time Ryan Clark.

Why is it called Cargo when it is travelling on a ship but a Shipment when it's travelling by car?
:pseudo:
It's just making the language a bit different.
Either way, it's weird that one would try and justify themselves by saying ''that's how you used to say it''
I heard americans call american football football because the ball is a foot long.

Nevermind, re-read. Lot's of justification.
It's like you British Peeps calling Cookies, Biscuits. I don't like it. :saddowns:
