Meh. If I'm not wrong they still got their "deadman-switch" from the coldwar active. Dono where it's pointing tho.
from my understanding, russia has been mostly ignoring said treaties for some years now anyway.
Sometimes I wish Superman would disarm all the nuclear weapons that exist. It pisses me off how mankind and technology converged to a point where we can have the brightest, happiest, and greatest future ever, but the threat of nuclear weapons still looms over our heads. Like we could go the opposite way, to a nightmarish future where we destroyed ourselves.
Or we could continue to engage in gigantic world wars because there's no reason not too without the thread of nuclear strikes on your armies.
nuclear politics isn't that simple when considering that mechanical or human error could (and almost has) lead to global nuclear war.
nuclear politics isn't that simple when considering that mechanical or human error could (and almost has) lead to global nuclear war.
The possibility of that is minuscule compared to the possibility of another World War. Which would almost be certain with no WMDs and a threat of MAD. The chance goes down further if you keep in mind that modern procedures would require multiple human errors as well mechanical errors, to malfunction.
nuclear politics isn't that simple when considering that mechanical or human error could (and almost has) lead to global nuclear war.
It hasn't though. Meanwhile we have all the rest of human history to explain how conventional wars lead to massive amounts of deaths without fail.
Hey, if nukes start flying, Florida is alright... Right?
Nope, we be fucked too. Least around these parts will be nuked. Also, getting rid of nukes would eventually just lead up to another powerful weapon that could kill us all being developed.
nuclear politics isn't that simple when considering that mechanical or human error could (and almost has) lead to global nuclear war.
Pretty much impossible at this day and age with the failsafes, missile shields, etc. An accidental rogue missile probably won't start a thermonuclear war. [editline]30th July 2014[/editline]
Because getting rid of the nukes worked soooo well for Ukraine.
That has nothing to do with what he said.
So could John Titor the alleged time travel have been right? Could we be on the brink of nuclear war?
Microwave. Cellphone. CRT. Bananas. Let's do this shit.

Whatever Russia, you're a piece of shit anyway. Cry and flail your arms more because we called you out on your imperial expansionism. Cry baby.
Since we're quite good at it already, we'd probably get back into the ol' bio-warfare
Oxygen Destroyer skeletonize your enemies.
the treaties brought us back from brinksmanship and were steps taken by the USSR and the USA to roll back tactical and strategic nuclear weapons also the USSR probably signed them because by '87 they were way behind the west in terms of these types of weapons but that's not the point [editline]29th July 2014[/editline] this is one area where i do jump on the fuck obama bandwagon, he should have gone after russia for pulling out of the Strategic Arms Reduction treaty and now he's allowed putin to get away with breaking other nuclear treaties
Actually, the idea of brinkmanship was abandoned after the Cuban Missile Crisis and the treaties relieve tensions more artificially. After Khrushchev the war was thawing anyway
Wait, are they seriously talking nuke or something? I just read the title and my heart just jumped.
Wait, are they seriously talking nuke or something? I just read the title and my heart just jumped.
yup, they want to back out of the no nukes treaty
yup, they want to back out of the no nukes treaty
Remember how silly I sounded at the idea of getting close to WWIII? Now it seems I'm not that far off. Serious talk though, I hope nothing comes from that, that shit is scary, and I'd hate to be killed by hot as the sun, radioactive fire.
Hey, if nukes start flying, Florida is alright... Right?
macdill, eglin, etc. nope.
Putin knows the consequence's if he launches a nuke. It's not going to end well for anyone. I doubt there'll be a war, just a lot of tension.
