If you're already itching to transfer your Steam copies over to GOG, there are a few games that can already be added through other means. https://www.gog.com/reclaim And I think Witcher 1 & Witcher 2's codes can still be redeemed on GOG through its CD reedem service, that's how I got my Steam copies on GOG.
Sounds like a good idea to me, though I'm going to be more inclined to buy from Steam now rather than GoG for games on both platforms.
tbh the only reason I would buy a game from Steam over GoG is if the game has SteamPlay, which doesn't allow multiplayer between different versions. For example, Dying Light's multiplayer does not allow crossplay between GoG and Steam version so I'll buy it through Steam since it is the more populated platform of the two. Speaking of which, I hope they'll prioritize SteamPlay games and such. It would save a lot of headaches from having people with different versions needing to rebuy games.
I would describe Steam as being invasive, more so than any other DRM I've seen. You have to run a program to play any of your games, and that kills it for me right there. Not to mention many games will demand you have a steam account to play the game even if you bought the physical copy. the Rockstar Social Club and Uplay might suck ass, but at least if I buy a copy of a game ubisoft didn't even make, I don't have to deal with Uplay. That's not the case with Steam and Valve. [editline]e[/editline] Ideally, they should all function like GoG does. No DRM shit, an optional program, and the ability to just launch the exe on my desktop just like a normal game would be launched a decade ago.
Thanks for clearing that up. I didn't consider Steam invasive because I've never had any problems with offline mode, and I thought being online and transmitting was the main worry with DRMs.
GoG is like a saint compared to Steam and I wouldn't mind buying games from GoG over Steam.
I get a feeling, that this is a sign that we will have the ability to Crossplay with Steam users. Overall, this left me speechless.
You know, the only reason why i like steam is because of the chat, i do a fuckload of communication through it so if it wasn't for that i would hate it as much as the next force-feed DRM
They say that if you refund a Steam game they can delete the game from your GOG account. But what if I already downloaded the game to my PC form GOG and then refunded it ? If I were them I would only add Steam games to GOG that you are not able to refund anymore.
The games you can transfer are cracked already, so there's no point in bothering just for that. You can pirate them directly. The big games with DRM like Denuvo, won't join in on GOG.

Hey it work- [t]http://i.imgur.com/g63GNKj.png[/t] Oh.
Hey it work- [t]http://i.imgur.com/g63GNKj.png[/t] Oh.
I got that too, I'm gonna just check tomorrow, I imagine that these promotions might be monthly.
If a game requires Steam to be running while it's active, then odds are it's a game with online features that are tied to Steamworks servers or other shit. That's technically a DRM all on its own. But if a game doesn't run off of those, then usually you can just play them straight from the folder with no problems (this is usually the case for older games before everything started shoving passive online in them).
So I just get this after logging in to my gog account: I've tried different web browsers and it does the same.
Why care so much about DRM anyway? Steam is not invasive at all; DRMs like Uplay or Rockstar Social Club are, but not Steam.
Steam isn't invasive but it's nice to have DRM-free copies available. While Valve has stated that they'll remove DRM from Steam games should something happen and the service have to shut down, that statement isn't legally binding and they'd really have no financial incentive to do so - so don't blindly believe that they would.
Just the heads up, if the game hasn't been added via GOG Connect page, try to do it from Galaxy.
Holy shit revolutionary Especially because of games with updated versions on gog and not updated on steam such as Vampire the masquerade bloodlines
GOG is shaping up pretty well. Proper support, quality control, and a decent community. The only thing it's missing for me, is cloud saving (looking at you, Witcher 3).
Trine and saints row 2 Thought I had van Helsing, guess only a specific edition gets copied
Got Unreal Gold + UT Gold, VVVVV, and Bit.Trip Runner. Weirdly enough, no UT2K4.
I got FTL and Trine
Games I got:
The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Trine Enchanted Edition To The Moon FTL: Advanced Edition VVVVVV Saints Row 2 Project Zomboid Bit.Trip Runner Braid
Hoping that we'll be able to get Witcher 2 and Witcher 3 later down the line!
Got Unreal Gold + UT Gold, VVVVV, and Bit.Trip Runner. Weirdly enough, no UT2K4.
UT2K4 isn't in the current games batch. They'll probably do monthly game batches, so don't forget to check every now and then.
UT2K4 isn't in the current games batch. They'll probably do monthly game batches, so don't forget to check every now and then.
It would be nice if gog could notify you by email every time they add a new batch of games.
Guys, the games that are eligible are actually on sale on GoG at the moment. Not ALL GoG games are eligible AT THE MOMENT. More games will come and some games might not be eligible in the future.
Those sales are sequels to what's available actually
NO ELIGIBLE GAMES FOUND Stay tuned for more games joining GOG Connect.
What the hell? I have at least 5 games on that list.
What the hell? I have at least 5 games on that list.
Steam profile needs to be public, happened to me too.
In the common man's tongue, what is GOG.com?
In the common man's tongue, what is GOG.com?
Gottfried's Omni-opening Grimoire, a book. Its text is as follows.
The Defensive Regulatory Magicon (or DRM for short) belongs to the above-mentioned group of the longest-lasting, most effective and hardest to break defensive mechanisms. In order to recognize the individual administering it, it makes use of a portal mounted at the entrance of the area it is to defend. This portal passes streams of magical energy through the body of the person entering and can, in the blink of an eye, determine if this person has the corporeal signature (eyeball structure included) of the entitled administrator. As a result, the only unauthorized individuals that can possibly hope to enter are mimics. DRM thus makes for an extremely effective and near-unbreakable security measure – but you are in luck, for you hold in your hands the key to bypassing it, namely the present tome, Gottfried’s Omni-opening Grimore, or GOG for short. In the pages to follow you will find innumerable methods for deactivating DRM, or, even better, bypassing it altogether...
