yeah because you can bludgeon a large number of people just as easily as firing a machine gun.
a killer could easily kill an unlimited number of people in the most inefficient way possible if he was patient enough
Wait, how the fuck is requiring a photo I.D. racist?
Because minorities can't afford to purchase ID.

In the state of Virginia anyways a photo ID card cost $10. I don't really see how this is an issue and I've never heard anyone this up as an issue before.
maybe you should get a real hobby

if guns are a tool then I guess cocaine is a tool as well
ITS A HOBBY, IT LETS ME HAVE FUN.
Now I'm no fan of the gun culture in America, but oh my god will you people stop posting these things. All it does is make your opinion on gun control look stupid as hell.
Oh cool. So now I can't buy ammunition anymore, there aren't any places that sell any near me except Wal Mart and they never have what I want in stock. 20 Gauge Buck is ALWAYS out of stock.
Because everybody who is about to go on a spree gets their ammo legally through Amazon.
In theory:
All of a sudden, a knife massacre occurs! Better ban knives!
Then a hammer massacre occurs! Ban hammers too!
Finally, a frying pan massacre occurs! We obviously have to ban frying pans too!
Get where I'm going? Won't work.
Not everything is a slippery slope.
Whatever happened to the "pro-gun" stance of the Obama administration? Seems like a total charade to me.
He wasn't really pro-gun he just never mentioned it ever.
It won't stop shootings all together, that's impossible. They are looking for ways to deter someone in any way from acquiring ammunition, but how many people do you think that will stop? Not every gunman will want to acquire large amounts of ammo in a store, or anywhere else before going through with something.
It may stop 1 person in total, but if anything that's what they're looking for. It's a stupid law but that's how they think.
It's a step in the right direction in their eyes, as long as someone is deterred from an act, any act.
Actually most Americans (and most NRA members) want stronger gun control than this bill offers so Democrats are being quite conservative only going after online ammo sales.
*sigh*
The point of a republic is that people are fucking stupid and are prone to knee jerk responses. The idea behind having professional politicians is to recognize when the people are being stupid or making a hasty decision and buffer their stupidity.
So no matter how much people may want a certain law that ultimately accomplishes nothing but fucking themselves over, politicians (specifically senators) are supposed to block them.
Representatives in the house can totally pander to the masses, but senators are supposed to never face direct elections from the people (rather they are elected by the state governments) and thereby can be the assholes we need in government.
EDIT: Also where did you get the impression that NRA members want more gun control? What are you smoking?

there was a poll of the membership that said this right here
Except ammo doesn't really have a legitimate use, especially in bulk.
These 100 round .22 bricks are dirt cheap and people buy them in bulk all the time. I go through at least one every time I go target shooting.
no man all people use guns for is murder sprees or planning murder sprees dont you know
Oh shit I totally forgot.
Yeah I actually go on ten or so murder sprees every time my .22 ammo comes in.
Sorry for the confusion.
All this bill does is actually give the Republicans something to point at that the 'evil liberals are coming for your guns!'
All this bill does is actually give the Republicans something to point at that the 'evil liberals are coming for your guns!'
Well ammo, not guns.

A nuclear weapon massacre occurs! Better not ban them because you can hit people with a frying pan and it still isn't banned.
I'm against most gun control, but your argument doesn't work at all because it's so ridiculously disproportional.

owning a gun makes me a big man
Better get that WASR 10/63 I've been wanting before Assault Weapon Ban 2: Common Sense Boogaloo strikes.
"4 It requires licensed ammunition dealers to report the sale of more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition to an unlicensed person within any five consecutive business days."
So you buy 999 rounds, wait 5 days and buy another 999?
clap clap america!

it's a slippery slope fallacy
I agree, this law is useless.
However, the argument of 'banning guns will lead to knives and thus is worthless', is one of the dumbest arguments against gun control that ever existed
In the state of Virginia anyways a photo ID card cost $10. I don't really see how this is an issue and I've never heard anyone this up as an issue before.
I just like to point out the double standard.
Requiring people to show photo ID to buy a gun isn't enough regulation, but doing the same for people to vote is too much and disenfranchisement.

I don't think that argument is meant to be literal, only to explain that if guns are gone, people will find a way to kill others regardless. Which isn't a bad argument.
if guns are a tool then I guess cocaine is a tool as well
owning a gun makes me a big man
Can't you guys provide an actual argument? Instead you just kind of say "Well it's not a real hobby," exploit tragedy, and imply that gun owners are insecure. You're just shouting what you think and not even backing it up.
I don't think that argument is meant to be literal, only to explain that if guns are gone, people will find a way to kill others regardless. Which isn't a bad argument.
it is a bad argument
because the assumption is the other way of killing is just as lethal/bad
which it isn't
This is fucking bullshit. So instead of saving money by buying in bulk like we do at Sam's Club or BJ's, we get price gouged at gun stores. Fuck this country.
what's the difference between buying a lot ammunition in a store, or buying a lot of ammo online? and if lots of amant be bought legally, itl simply just be ht illegally, this is stupid.
i wanna buy my 880 rounds of 7.62 for my mosin :c

Better stock up now if you want to save money.
1 It requires anyone selling ammunition to be a licensed dealer.
So if Average Joe has excess ammunition, what 's he going to do throw it away?
2 It requires ammunition buyers who are not licensed dealers to present photo identification at the time of purchase, effectively banning the online or mail order purchase of ammo by regular civilians.
As already mentioned, this deprives gun owners who do not live in regions with gun stores access to ammunition for their constitutionally guaranteed weapons.
Also Average Joe could show his ID and purchase ammo, only to sell it illegally on the street.
Fucking useless.
3 It requires licensed ammunition dealers to maintain records of the sale of ammunition.
Isn't it enough that we track guns?
4 It requires licensed ammunition dealers to report the sale of more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition to an unlicensed person within any five consecutive business days.
Already mentioned, people go through a shit ton of ammo, and all this does is create more paperwork.
At least they're doing something.
It's a stupid something.
Well, what would you do?
Nothing, buying tons of ammo online is fine. Have people fax a copy of their driver's license to the dealer, which most already do. Buying a shit ton of ammo is what people do to save money.
