With around 400 people in the club the dead count is higher than 1 to every 2 visitors. The security situation and evacuation plans must have been extremely poor.

being one of those people getting crushed at the doorway while fire is getting closer has to be my number one nightmare scenario

Oh, updated my post to avoid any problems.

Yeah that was a horrible night, one of my fathers friends died in that fire. My father woke me up when he saw it on the news and we knew he was there, it was a horrible feeling.
The thing that sucks is it was so easily preventable, first of all no pyrotechnics should have been used in such a small place and The Station didn't have any sprinklers installed. It was a deathtrap for anyone inside.
I get tired of hearing about these nightclub fires because they usually happen because of negligence.

Holy shit that fire spread quickly. Only took 60 seconds for the entire place to fill with smoke and you're fucked if you're not outside soon after that. Damn
a friend of mine lost his 3 friends, and another friend of mine got to escape as soon as the fire started.
they knocked down and punched the security staff to let them out because they wouldn't let people who didn't pay out. they didn't know there was a fire going on though.
I can't even imagine how horrifying that would be, being trapped in a tiny building while crawling over each other escaping flames.
Wasn't there a infamous fire in club in like the 40s or something which led to strengthening fire codes in the USA? Like doors that open outwards and break way revolving doors.

Only reason I know is because Red Chord named an album after it.
"The toxic smoke made people lose their sense of direction so they were unable to find their way to the exit. At least 50 bodies were found inside a bathroom. Apparently they confused the bathroom door with the exit door."
D:
I've been in a night club that had a false alarm, thankfully that place had several exits and no-one got hurt in the rush, I'm guessing mainly because the people running it didn't fuck around with stopping people with drinks and stuff, and they had the door staff outside moving people away from the entrance constantly.

can you PLEASE keep these pictures as links? this happened with people really close to me and i prefer not to see them.

you may as well not look at any news articles or watch the news then.
I'd make a Max Payne joke but I can't think of something witty yet
this is horrifically shocking...
+200 innocent people who live their normal lives and do their part to contribute die horribly because of a night club owners greed in actually getting better saftey regulations.
i hope other night club owners and companies see what has happened and decide its time for a change.
seeing those pictures of dead bodies and reading posts/articles of people actually "getting piled up in bathrooms because they thought it was an entrance" really makes me want to bring a gasmask if i ever were to attend a low-budget night club.
you may as well not look at any news articles or watch the news then.
pretty dumb of you. i'm looking at live coverage because i want to know what'll happen to the dude who owns the club. the paperwork wasn't on date and he didn't even have the permission to OWN the place.
but yeah, i might as well not look at any news. maybe i didn't have friends involved in this and i don't care about this, right?
[editline]27th January 2013[/editline]
also 232 are officially confirmed dead, not 245. 245 was an estimate.
Im just saying its dumb to ask pictures of a news event to be censored, its the news people want to see pictures and its the same sort of stuff thats on tv coverage. I'll link stuff thats overly graphic but not the photos I have found currently.
you posted a picture of bodies, that's pretty graphic. but okay man.
Please, media tag gruesome imagery. Even if this weren't an international forum with people who were directly affected by the fire, it's a matter of common decency. We're not vultures-- some people don't want to see images of the dead.
I live in Brazil, and the news interviewed some of the survivors. They said the guards were blocking the exit and forcing people to pay before leaving. One guy managed to bust through the guards and then help some people escape using the other exit doors.
The fire was caused by an accident involving some pyrotechnics in the nightclub.
It was really sad seeing the videos of victim's relatives crying. I feel bad for everyone that suffered because of this.

Cool, good thing nobody posted anything like that so far, so there's no reason to be complaining.
Also, those are not bodies, people usually don't drop dead of asphyxiation AFTER leaving a burning building, they're probably victims of the smoke waiting for treatment, and weren't taken yet due to the lack of any serious burns.

Or we could just not be arseholes and tag them since it literally costs us nothing.

The only strong pictures so far were linked and not posted directly.
so can we please stop bitching about it

Top of your very previous post, those are just normal news shots.
There's no gore and likely 0 dead people, those are completely safe.

Why are they all stopping at and blocking the doors?
